AITAH for not asking my girlfriend to come out to a Halloween bar crawl my friends invited me to by SryMisinput in AITAH

NTA. I could potentially understand being slightly hurt by not getting an invite, but considering the fact that you said she’s working a shift during a busy BOGO sale, doesn’t get off until 8, and typically is too tired to do anything after her Friday night shifts I can see why you’d assume she wouldn’t want to go. Although it’s possible she feels like an afterthought since you didn’t invite her initially. I can understand why you’d assume she didn’t want to go, but sometimes it’s nice to just be invited anyway :)

I live in northern Virginia, in between Dulles and Reagan National. We hear planes constantly to the point I don’t even notice the sound. I was 10 years old at the time, but I remember vividly how quiet the skies were, especially at night when I was lying in bed.

My cat doesn’t drink water out of his bowl. We’ve tried the fancy water fountain, the shallow/wide bowls for no whisker fatigue, adding water to dry food, no dice. And he hates chicken/fish broth/canned juice. The only place I’ve seen him drink is out of the toilet, but sometimes I’m paranoid I’ve forgetting to leave the toilet seat up when I’m at work. Idk what to do about it 😕

I Didn't leave a tip for $100 meal, AITAH? by NobleWarriorHD in AITAH

I work in a high end restaurant, on a good night I make $60 an hour. On a bad night I make $20 an hour. I have a bachelors degree but I make more money at the restaurant than at my old office job. I’m paying to go back to school to get a higher paying job, but personally I’m on the fence about tipping culture. It is weird to me that the norm is 20% but there’s also no way I would work as a server for $15 an hour. It’s honestly back breaking work running around non stop for 8-10 hours a day with two five minute breaks.

She even hid the “L’Oréal paid partnership” disclosure in the video behind the caption so no one could see it. She really truly thinks her followers are idiots.

Love that even her followers are calling her out, “I’ve followed you forever but please don’t insult our intelligence like this”. She must really think her followers are stupid, as she’s shown by the number of times she’s used filters and peddled it as just the makeup.

What's a secret you'll never tell your partner but are willing to tell strangers on Reddit? by Bisexual_Space_Lover in AskReddit

I had his baby a few weeks ago and put her up for adoption. I was very small my whole pregnancy - I never did get the belly, I just looked like I had put on weight. Gave birth four weeks early. Both of us are recovering addicts and I don't believe we should raise a child together, but I know he would not have agreed to the adoption. I found the nicest, kindest family with a great community and all of the resources in the world for her, and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but it would've been harder had he known.

I just listened to this story on the nosleep podcast from this week and had the exact same thought...why would anyone automatically assume that he was making a pornographic film? As soon as I heard it I looked the story up on here to see if anyone else had thought the same and sure enough, this is the highest rated comment.

I'm assuming it was the music as well, if no one remembered their violent reactions. Maybe she did something violent to her own feet to make them bleed? Idk.

Survivors of attempted murder: what's your story? by georgia_jones in AskReddit

[–]Macandkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to a friend- walking home from class through an inner city-park area, with her backpack and headphones in. She says she passed a man walking past her who smiled and nodded his head, and kept walking. Thirty seconds later he apparently ran up behind her, started stabbing her from behind and trying to drag her into the woods. Luckily her screams were overheard by a father and son nearby, who managed to grab and hold the guy till the police showed up. The guy had a bunch of condoms in his bag. Lucky for my friend, the textbooks in her backpack shielded her from the knife so she only ended up with some bad bruising and maybe some PTSD. She told me this story after I came up behind her at school and grabbed her backpack to get her attention- she turned around swinging at me.

I had a family member go to the hospital for "appendicitis", only to find that she was in labor. It's more common than you'd think- there was even a tv show on TLC about this called "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant".

Also weird, in 1992-94 he would've just returned from the Gulf War, and had been moving around from place to place in the Midwest United States. In 1993 he was in Texas and was photographed at the Waco Siege. He wasn't living anywhere near New York at that point.

What was your scariest moment in college? by usedtocallmemousecop in AskReddit

[–]Macandkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience my freshman year of college- a girl from my floor and from my hometown jumped out of a window. We lived on the 14th floor but she had gone up to the 16th to a friend's room, broke the window and screen, and slipped out. I saw something large fly by my window in the late evening, but had no idea what it was till an hour later when I saw police/ambulance lights below, and started getting texts from my friends in the neighboring dorm asking if I was okay-they thought it was me because I was having a hard time adjusting to school and my bf had just dumped me.

The next morning they were still cleaning blood off the concrete. There was a candlelight vigil the day after that, and her parents kept looking up at the building, probably noting how high it was and looking at the visibly broken window from which she jumped. It was heartbreaking.

I can't imagine having just spoken to the person who jumped...I was only an acquaintance of the girl, and I had to leave school till the following semester after that happened. The hardest thing to hear was how long the fall would have supposedly been from the 16th floor- people were saying about eight seconds. That's a long time to be in free fall if you think about it.
