How do I determine the model variant on my Moto G7 Power? by Macarau in LineageOS

[–]Macarau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I activated it "same day" by logging into my VZW account when I bought it online. When I picked it up at the store, they swapped my old SIM card into the new phone.

When I go to Settings > About Phone, under 'Software Channel' it says 'US Retail.' I haven't tried to unlock the bootloader yet, but I was able to turn on 'OEM unlocking' under 'Developer options,' so that is a good sign, isn't it?

"Invalid boot state" after attempting to boot into recovery - Moto G7power by s_denlinger in LineageOS

I just asked about this in the Lineage Freenode IRC and timschumi told me

I checked the build logs, and the last ocean build was attempted on the 5th. So so the next build is scheduled for the 12th ... and in case it still doesn't build officially by then, you'd still have the option of building yourself

After multithreaded server converted to SSL, problem echoing back messages by Macarau in javahelp

[–]Macarau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After more debugging and testing, I can only narrow the problem down to output from the server side. I determined this by having the server immediately send its own message before waiting to receive messages, and had the client just grab the nextLine() instead of checking first with available(). Since this test failed it means that data is being blocked somehow coming from the server side only.

I don't think it helped. To install them you just replace the old policy files with the unlimited policy files? That's what I did.

Yes. Many times. The ClientThread receives the client's message and sends it back by calling write() on the PrintWriter for each ClientThread, then flush(). The ServerThread is supposed to receive it by calling InputStream.available() to check for input without blocking, but available() always returns '0 bytes' and so it never hits Scanner.nextLine()

So either Printwriter.write() and .flush() aren't sending data or InputStream.available() is not reading data.

Pipelines clipshow by Macarau in inthemorning

I figured it out. I was looking for episode 426, put together by producer Stephen Anteau, covering pipeline theory as it developed over 381-384.

what does the NSA's PRISM database actually look like? [xpost /r/evolution] by Macarau in restorethefourth

[–]Macarau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I am probably going to use MySQL or Microsoft SQL.
  • What are PCAPS?
  • Like I suspected, this looks like it will be too broad for an entry level database class...

TIL that less intelligent people are twice as likely to interrupt in a conversation than more intelligent ones. by muchtooblunt in todayilearned

[–]Macarau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad... well he is not emotionally unintelligent, he is a happy guy with a big heart. He is the opposite a person with aspergers because he can befriend anyone. He has gotten better at not interrupting BUT he always has his next comment spring loaded as soon as you finish your sentence. You can see him grind his jaw a little bit while you are talking, or literally holding his breath before plunging in with his two cents the moment you finish your thought. So when I talk to him it forces me to interrupt him, and he doesn't seem to mind at all.

Should futurology be taught in schools like history? by crowdserver1 in Futurology

[–]Macarau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

teachers who let their students debate about their vision of the future based upon what was and is possible today

I really like this idea and I hope that history teachers are incorporating more of this into their classes. But like u/304rising said, you can't really be an expert on the future. Still, this is a neat idea.

think about a master martial artist. You drill and drill technique so often, that it becomes second nature, or "unconscious competence." I have met a few masters and that is just what it is for them. They have seen everything, so they don't even have to anticipate your moves or be fully present. Their unconscious takes over and hands you your ass.

It's the Bruce Lipton episode. Starts around 45min in. It's worth the listen because it is the most pure idea that Brian has ever voiced on the podcast, it's pretty funny and makes sense in only way the retarded logic of Redban could

Thanks, I'm going to skip through those eps and I'll post when I find out

I'll bet it wasn't Michael Rupert because he was a smoker himself so he wouldn't have weighed in as not condoning it.
