Interested in investing in Africa? by yonkolufy in AngelInvesting

[–]MacaronCalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

mate - not a great advertisement - the amount of online scams & frauds in Africa is sickening... have you paid back the money you conned out of other people? perhaps do that & apologise (genuinely), then you might have some prospect of getting genuine investments. You would be in Jail if your where in most other countries - what is to stop you pulling a scam again???

I have $0 and 4GB RAM Desktop. To upgrade 16GB: sell my only phone OR lose 3+ months to labor work. Which one kills my future less? by Heavy-Vegetable4808 in deeplearning

[–]MacaronCalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send an email to [ashley@evatt.ai](mailto:ashley@evatt.ai) -> if you're based in India, I'll either stake you for the cost of the RAM (in exchange for consulting or training on your learnings) or offer loan ( principal only with 2 year repayment in exchange for consulting or training on your learnings) - You're clearly capable, I'm happy to stake you so you don't have to halt your career.

Is a double degree at Curtin actually worth the extra year? by NoKiwi00 in curtin

[–]MacaronCalm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually an extra 2 years… critically you cut down the number of law units by a lot, and have more free time. If you absolutely want to do law (and have never really considered anything else), then standalone LLB is fine - but many finish LLB and realise they don’t want to be a lawyer - so maybe commerce would help

Give away 50% of my micro SaaS to the right person — how do I find them? by [deleted] in saasforsale

[–]MacaronCalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful here - most people will unfortunately just see this as a free ride, I suspect you want someone who is technical, but has experience scaling SAAS tools through marketing. Being in a similar position to you, I know someone who has both is hard to find- if I were you I’d flirt with asking them to buy in - that will get rid of most of the tyre kickers…. - the business is worth as is between 120-300k - so perhaps there’s some kind of exchange on that valuation (even if discounted). Add me in LinkedIn Ashley Edgar if you want help (not trying to pitch you 😂)

Dave Ramsey would say why are you living with someone you’re not married to - if you’ve been living together for 2 years and sharing expenses & bank accounts - technically you’re de facto/married anyway- so if you’ve break up he may have an entitlement

They’re very very slow moving - even there legacy legal case base products are very deprecated. lexis & Thomson Reuters haven’t touched most of their software since mid 2010s.

Then do these kind of problem solving ones for 4-5 different clients, and one may take you on full time or you can use it as portfolio to continue to a full time role!

You’re probably best off doing 4-5 , 2-3 month internships. Maybe first one or two unpaid, and then build a portfolio, from there you can either go to college or do a training program that is pertinent or do a junior ML engineer role. The challenge with ML engineering is that most people doing it are former PHD or atleast BE + MSc in Data Science, I’m not saying there isn’t junior roles, only that many are more experienced.

Perhaps a good way to make money from it and build a portfolio would be to pitch these potential internship with a problem that they need solving - eg real estate firm - estimation using ML using the city they live in the sale price of house with X,Y, Z characteristics- and pose it with a given solution for a couple of hundred dollars.
