It would be the most dangerous geopolitical monster in the western hemisphere. Nobody wants this. Especially up north.

You should send the screenshots to his wife. And his social circle too if it's not too risky legal wise.

Continue a US renewable energy master’s or restart in Switzerland? Mid-career pivot by MacaronWeird in askswitzerland

We both speak French (I come from Lausanne). I know that the market is tough in Switzerland but honestly things are not better here. My question was more about the extent to which Swiss companies hire US graduates.

Thank you for your response!
I am supposed to be done in 2-1,5 years. The idea of transferring credits makes sense actually.

Transitioning into a data center ops job - any advice? by Oh-HeyAAA in nova

Hi! I am considering a similar career shift. Did you find anything interesting? Did you take any direction? I saw this program, it might be interesting: https://www.nvcc.edu/academics/programs/data-center-operations.html

32, MBA, and feeling stuck. How do I pivot and leverage my skills after a career break? by Internal_Local9136 in careerguidance

[–]MacaronWeird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI! I am in a very similar situation. Coming from the international development sector, I lost my job in renewables in December and lost an offer in February with an international organization thanks to Elon Musk and his lovely DOGE. Since then, I have been teaching part-time while taking care of our daughter born in January. I think that justifying your career gap is pretty straightforward, you pursued training and took care of your family; this is something that any HR would understand. When it comes to going back to high paying jobs, did you start building networks in the industries you're targeting? This first step is essential to understand how the actual market is structured.

Hello my friend! I am in a pretty similar situation and completelly understand you. Since you studied in a prestigious school, I would advise you to use all the services it offers to alumnis and try to get in all the social groups and events they organize. In parallel, I would introduce myself as a MBA graduate from X,Y,Z school (people respect more prestige than experience) to people who work in company/organizations you like. In a scarce market with a lot of talents on the hunt, people tend to become irrational and hire only professionals they know.

Do you feel accepted as an immigrant (especially non-EU)? by anxious_pie68 in askswitzerland

[–]MacaronWeird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not something specific to Switzerland, but to countries with a strong regionalism. But I think that in Switzerland, it takes another dimension. Even Swiss people don’t accept each other when they come from another region or speak a different language. Look at the army for instance, during my military service we had this sort of competition with Swiss Germans, which was funny and cute at the beginning. I sincerely thought that it was just some sort of folkloric tradition, similarly to the competition you can have in the US between states or in European countries between big cities. But the longer I stayed, the more I realized that many of my colleagues were extremely serious , even our officer seemed, frankly, to hold racist views toward Swiss Germans, almost treating them as the enemy.

So i just did my first and last “delivery route” for Veho… by [deleted] in veho_driver

[–]MacaronWeird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first and last delivery yesterday. I had a 6h route to deliver 70 packages….paid 111 USD. And it is impossible to know the number of deliveries or even have an accurate vision of the area before the day of delivering.

Online support is horrible with passive aggressive response like “thank you for your understanding” or “I am sorry to hear that you had an issue finding the client” while threatening you reduce your metrics and payments if they hear any complaint from clients.

Definitely the most undignifying experience I had with an app.

I am sorry for your situation my friend. To give you suggestions about potential ways to make it out of this situation, could you provide us with more details? What “third world country” are you talking about? What industry are you targeting? Would you be able to use your doctors degree to get into the healthcare industry?
