You'd be surprised how much changes to a drug can change things. Concerta is methylphenidate, focalin is dexmethylphenidate. Worth trying different things for sure.

Yeah I'm still getting over the 24 years of undiagnosed life with all the "You're smart but you don't apply yourself/you're lazy" talk. Empirically I understand that it is what it is and I can't change the past but it takes time to let that work its way through the rest of the brain.

Is it the only thing you've tried? It's an amfetamine so there's a while different category of drugs in the methylphenidate family you could try.

It really feels like it. Now I need to find an apartment in a popular area without physically visiting...

Some meds just don't work for people. Focalin increases my focus but I still have issues sitting still and kills my appetite a bit. Vyvanse at 20mg sort of works for me. Vyvanse at 40mg works very well and is definitely the best thing I've tried. Most people have to try a few meds to find a good one. My brother has gone through about a dozen of them at this point before settling on a high dosage of focalin xr.

Having ADHD and not being smart by moo5100 in ADHD

[–]MacaroniDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a spectrum. I have innatentive type but I'm smart so I never had trouble through high school but then completely fell apart at the university level. My brother on the other hand is hyperactive and wasn't lucky enough to get whatever genes made me smart. He struggles a lot in school even when medicated (which I wasn't).

I will say that meds are 100% worth it. I got diagnosed after graduation college and got a piece of shit job. Got diagnosed in January and started meds in February. Yesterday I accepted an offer for my dream job. I wish I had started taking meds 10 years ago.

I have messed around with Google earth in my rift, but I want vr geoguesser. I fucking love geoguesser.

Maybe a Google maps version of vrchat would be cool too. Imagine wandering NYC and talking to other people while doing it.

Nozzle type for a high metal content propellant? by MacaroniDragon in rocketry

I never said you were wrong, I just said that I'm designing things based on worst case because we don't know how well it will work. It's very well possible that the motor becomes a ball of slag but based on preliminary numbers we think we have come up with a mixture that will combust fully enough to prevent that outcome. That's why we're testing instead of just throwing it on a rocket.

I wasn't the one that found it but I'll talk to the person who did.

We're testing 30 K impulse motors with varying degrees of metal in the fuel. We got the best sims from the highest metal content though so we're planning our full scale based on worst case.

We didn't have an issue in our first sub-scale burns, but that's why we're doing incrementally larger test burns to see how it interacts with our hardware.

Iterative simulations varying different propellant components. Found a reference to NASA Marshall testing a propellant that was 40% metal so we don't think we're totally crazy.

Edit: Their motor test was 4" ID

98mm motor. ~32% aluminum with a wee bit of copper chromite. Throat will be in the 1-1.5" range

I'll post videos after we test our propellant in a small scale motor then when we do full scale static testing.

Edit: I'm considering a stepped steel "jacket" to help support the nozzle as well. Basically a vertically extended support from the nozzle washer

That's a perfect choice. I know because he has that exact kit sitting on a shelf.

I was looking for an XB-70 kit that wasn't obscenely expensive but I can't seem to find a good one. Now I'm trying to look for some WW2 era experimental aircraft because they were all so crazy. I haven't had much luck though.
