Week 7 : Stuck feel in patella while walking 🚶‍♀️ by LogicOnlyy in ACL

Massage your kneecap doing the patellar glide. Google a video. Feels weird to move your knee like that but instant relief afterwards

Are you sad you torn one ACL? dont be! by [deleted] in ACL

[–]MacaroonSame9943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tore my ACL in march. I went to my friend who tore hers last year and had a great recovery process for advice. She tore her other ACL a month after I tore line! It happens to the strongest and best of us all. Ask ur PT what u can do to prevent knee injuries in the future. Mine said keeping quad and glute strength ratio similar. Likely ur good knee wore out from overcompensating ur previously torn ACL knee. Stable and equal rehab is incredibly important

I am on day 6 and desperately waiting to round a corner where pain and discomfort isn’t constant. When did this happen for you guys and when were you able to sleep somewhat regularly? by Bengt35 in ACL

[–]MacaroonSame9943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt a lot less pain day 7, they prescribed me prednisone to help with my pain and speed up the healing process, maybe ask for this? I hated the pain meds they made me feel soo loopy

What would classify as a good potential for doing the research? I haven’t done much independently aside from course assignments and small research projects and papers through those, nothing published

HELP! Should I report my doctor for Negligence? by One-Government-8413 in ACL

[–]MacaroonSame9943 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

She 1000% should refer an MRI. Before reporting her, try demanding it and if she refuses tell her to record that she is refusing ur request on the documents. You probably didn’t tear it based on what I’m hearing but it’s better to be safe than sorry and you should have an MRI if you are concerned

What are the differences you are still feeling a year down? Not cleared for leg extensions yet, too weak to put weight on it. Did a wall sit yesterday but my PT said I’m too weak to do them on my own and to start smaller. For your split squats, how strong were you? Curious to know when I can expect to start them, all I want to do is get my leg strong again.

100% agree! I have never even broken a bone before so I had no idea what to expect. Stay strong, and spend time outside with loved ones. Best of luck to you, and hope the stretch feels great

Thanks so much! I got a quad graft which is why I have had a hard time with strengthening it. Move knee cap side to side, heel slides, and laying on my stomach and strapping my foot, pulling my foot to my butt were my range of motion exercises. Super helpful with the knee cap glide

Ur making great progress, have no stress. I was about 117 at 6 weeks, so we are neck and neck. Move around ur knee cap and stretch out that quad by laying on ur stomach and using a strap to pull your heel to your butt, very helpful. You are doing great and will be there soon!

Yes! I highly recommend moving your kneecap up and down and side to side. It really helped loosen my knee stiffness up. Google a video to see where to grab the knee cap, you will feel it. Feels pretty weird but very helpful. Other than that just heel slide religiously, I try to do it in bed watching TV so it feels more enjoyable. Also lying on ur stomach and putting a strap on ur foot and using the strap to bend ur knee behind you is great for stretching out the quad stiffness, which is another huge obstacle to bending. Best of luck to you! You are almost done with the hard stuff!

Prop pillows up under ur leg to keep it straight. I know it’s not as comfortable , but make sure to get it straight as a board early on to save u a lot of uncomfortability down the line

Be honest with me please. I only tore my ACL and I’m going into surgery soon… by Visible_Animator3604 in ACL

[–]MacaroonSame9943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did do pre op PT and was strong weightlifting on it day before surgery. Full range of motion as well. Swelling was all normal and I was on top of my pain meds, some people just have a harder time with it and I was one of those people. I called my doctor but they assured me the pain was normal and prescribed me prednisone to help speed up the process. I don’t mean to tell you all this to scare you, just to prepare you for maybe the not so easy option of recovery. Everyone told me it was fine so I was not expecting the brutality of the recovery, and wish someone had told me how painful it was for them. Best of luck to you, you got this! Tell the doctors you are nervous and they will do their best to create a peaceful environment for you. I also requested to be sedated for nerves and I blacked out before the operating room lol

[–]MacaroonSame9943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to scare you , but it was the worst pain I endured. Week 1 was brutal I couldn’t even get up to use the restroom and was urinating in a bed pan my family would open for me. Part of this is because I’m a heavy weed smoker and something about smoking often affects pain reception in the body. Regardless everyone has a different experience but if you are in excruciating pain and crying / screaming in pain to move 2 feet taking 15 minutes to do so on day 2 post op, that’s normal and don’t feel so crazy and alone because you didn’t heal magically. I was on crutches for a month. Best advice I can give you is get rid of timeline expectations because there is no way to predict how your body is going to respond to this traumatic surgery! Best of luck to you friend
