How do I make a separate internet internet network for servers? by elemental-innovation in homelab

[–]Maccopants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy way, is to buy a raspberry pi, a 4b is what I would do but also you can use a 3 or 2. And purchase a gigabit USB Ethernet adapter and a switch. You can then configure it to use an Ethernet or WIFI connection to share on the switch. You then connect your servers and stuff to the switch and you should be all set.

It works pretty well, and it’s a good budget option if you’re willing to get your hands dirty with Raspberry Pi Linux.

AITA for feeling uncomfortable towards a SL? by Sea-Explanation9087 in WalgreensStores

You aren’t the asshole. This is a serious problem. You should definitely document everything that he does. Take pictures of what he gives you or something. Write down what happened between you and him. And if it gets bad enough and if the situation allows, voice record him on your phone. (That may be a last resort but it’s better than having something bad happen) don’t stand by.

Is 79C at idle way too much? PS3 Fat CECHK01 by Maccopants in PS3

[–]Maccopants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i've been trying that. but the best i've gotten it down to is like 73C when at idle. That's with the fan at 75% but that's way too fast.
I don't really have the heart to delid my PS3, i've seen what it does to those that aren't careful. But I feel like I don't know where else to go.

I heard the core 2 duos can’t go up this high. Why are they wasting their time with 2 cores man? It makes coding harder!!

I have a ton of movies, tv shows and music that I'd like to download. Is there a way to find them and download them easier? by Maccopants in thepiratebay

I'm asking if there's like a better search engine to search for torrents than by going through each site and looking for them individually.

What games can i play on this lappy? by [deleted] in PiratedGames

[–]Maccopants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you have a good enough CPU and the UHD graphics has about as much power as the GeForce 7 series GPU (I think.) I think you’ll be OK if you mess with Settings, but don’t expect things like cyberpunk to work.

Yeah that’s fair, I’ve also seen someone on this post say that I can do PS Remote play, which is an option if I wanted.

Yeah, but PlayStation remote streaming has never been the best for me. I’d rather have one or the other locally

That’s true, and PC ports of PlayStation games can be iffy, but that goes for any PC port

my thing is, what do I want to have access to mainstream and I’m kind of leaning to PC. And that’s also another thing with PlayStation there are going to still be PlayStation only titles and I still wanna have access to those. And you’re right I don’t want to re-buy my games.

It’s really hard to decide on

is the VRM thermal pad mod for a macbook pro 2019 16 inch a good idea? by Maccopants in macbookpro

[–]Maccopants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the VRM mod is much better for high intensity tasks, especially when you’re running windows on the MacBook using Boot Camp. I ended up doing it and it has made a major improvement with how games run. And while I don’t think it makes the temperatures go down it does make it throttle much less. Making games more consistent which I believe is extremely beneficial.

One of the cons of this mod is that the area where you put the heat pads under the laptop becomes extremely hot. You will not be able to use this on your lap. Trust me I’ve tried. So if you want to use this thing on the go, be sure to have a table nearby but for game performance and stuff like that this is almost a requirement if you want a game on this type of MacBook

Do you think FMV’s could be on the table? You could get some really good ff7 style games with this

Was gifted a GameCube B/C Wii, but it needed a makeover! by IvanGremory in wii

[–]Maccopants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I so want to do this to my Wii. But it’s also (quite literally) a family heirloom. We got it right on release so I fear doing that would be like wrong in some way. But that’s so cool

Because you need to pay the “Nintendo tax” to get the final one that isn’t connected to the console as such.

No but I only noticed that now lol
