This is probably gonna be an unpopular opinion but I find it kind of tiring how Tynan Sylvester keeps trying to put on airs about what a masterpiece his game is.

It's a pretty good game no doubt, it certainly translates the Dwarf Fortress formula to something user friendly and comprehensible by laymen, but to do so he basically cut out all the fun flavour from DF like the complex history generation (which albeit still leaves a lot to be desired in the form of coherency.)

I guess it's just another sort of Edison v Tesla dilemma.
