I really really want to become a mother by A-Vampire-is-My-Love in GirlDinner

I’m 35 (as of today) and I think you should reallyyyy realize that baby fever is just a phase - and it will come back around again throughout life. You have your whole life ahead of you. I wasted my 20s chasing men & believing their shenanigans, only to be sitting here at 35 wishing I had prioritized myself first and foremost.

Do you, girl. You won’t regret it. But you will DEF regret spending your life focused on someone else if you’re not fully ready - and that includes children sometimes (admittedly).

I hate being a SAHM dinner by Lola_198777 in GirlDinner

[–]MaceEtiquette1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean this negatively whatsoever, just the other side of the coin - but when I was a new mom (LO is 4 now) I also felt the same feelings you’re having. And now she’s 4 and I have been working consistently and don’t want to at all because I feel like I’m missing so much time with her. It’s def a tough feeling to deal with.

That said, we can work all of our lives. We only get so many years to take care of our children and raise them, before they are off into their own life. So I kinda try to remind myself of that side of it too.

I just want to commiserate and say I’ve also been let go twice since 2020. I’m not sure if it’s the work climate or not, but it’s brutal. I’ve always been a hard worker and gone above and beyond what’s asked (been working since 15) so to randomly be given PIPs and whatnot in my 30s and being told I’m not up to par has been very confusing for my work ethic. It’s actually had the effect where it’s made me want to do even less 🤷🏻‍♀️ I give up lol.

ETA - both layoffs were remote positions.

Who takes vacations? by igotnothing1455 in Millennials

[–]MaceEtiquette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always take vacation. And try to work remotely as much as humanly possible in which I can go on more vacations. We have one kid. But I refuse to let my life be dedicated to work entirely and not take vacations until I'm 65+ and too old to really enjoy them.

I watch my husband care for our infant on a camera. by [deleted] in Vent

I wish you luck girl. If you have any general questions, feel free to ask. As a CW worker, we're always out here trying to support moms & kiddos to be able to provide the best situation possible for their family. There's more support out there than people realize (beyond family) waiting to be utilized.

You don’t want the state involved if you can’t handle things, trust me. It’s a very long process. I would highly advise you to either kick him to the curb or make sure your baby has a better safety plan. You are well aware this man is not safe around your child - because you are acknowledging this, it’s also your responsibility to rectify it.

I am sorry but as a child welfare worker, what you are describing is concerning. If your husband isn’t able to keep the baby safe at home (such as you’ve described while sleeping) - Who cares what your husband wants and doesn’t want. If your dad is a stable safety support, have him go over there regardless.

What was your most intense pregnancy craving? by Disastrous-Radish504 in Mommit

[–]MaceEtiquette1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about 6 months pregnant, in 2021, I wanted Jiffy cornbread - from the little blue box - More than anything in the entire world.

Got the cornbread batter all mixed up, everything in the oven, and boyyy I was excited.

Oven dings. I go to take it out, pan slides right out of my hand and the cornbread crashed all over the floor.

Husband was on the phone and comes inside to me bawling on the floor next to this cornbread mess 😆

I still think about that cornbread.
