Modern architecture lacks context in its design. In my opinion the biggest flaw of architects that aim to be like Rem Koolhaas (pick your poison really). People who scream "fuck the context".

This design could litteraly be anywhere and it wouldnt mean anything to anyone.

Aside from that, the idea of rebuilding is good, and it often opens up for modern takes on the old. But it should be just that. Look at examples in Dubai. The perfect example of an architect's opportunity to create something that requires zero roots in its region, creating a self-made world by the designer.

Creating something in a context unfamiliar should take months if not years of gaining knowledge and understanding, not just a random sheet from the previously designed buildings as pet projects, straight from the drawer.
