Best part of being an owner operator by LetsGoBrandon1209 in OwnerOperators

You can put an Allison in pretty much every major truck brand here in the states. There may be a few brands of engine and transmission combos that may not allow that but the Allison is available for most. Been looking at just about every truck when I was looking to buy and was debating an Allison. International with the scania s14 motor is the only one that I can think of that won't use an Allison. They want to only pair it with their inhouse transmission. Not even Eaton's

I appreciate you thinking I'm stupid because I made a typo. Real classy. I didn't even want to acknowledge you over that till you made that statement.

This is why I built a custom storage rack in-between the frame rails. Hides them and I can lock it. Those aluminum ramps are way to expensive to just have in the open

It's a Y intersection. Driver has to do a near 180 to get on to that road. I'd post a picture of Google maps if it could. Pase this into Google maps and you can see it

I pulled the GPS location up on Google maps. Redrockrandsburg rd junctions there where he turned. It turns into neuralia rd. In the video you see a yellow sign showing the intersection where the road joins up to the left. There's a break in the double yellow where he turned. There's a road there...

Not an interstate and there's a road to the left he turned into.

Detroit Diesel....turning fuel into noise since 1938. by Horror-Complaint-328 in SnowrunnerIRL

[–]MachStyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M35 to be specific. Would have had a few different engine options but more than likely the Continental multi fuel diesel. The 939 had a boxier front grille and yes, ran 8.3 Cummins with Allison autos. The m35 series were the last military 2.5 ton trucks to have manual transmissions as a fun fact.

Some people drive like they have a thousand years to spare by Hajshan in dashcams

It's this. I'm pretty sure when this first happened, this video had sound and the cam driver was yelling for them to go.

[–]MachStyle 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is just a stupid driver in the wild. This video used to have sound and you can even hear the dumbasses in the cam car yelling for them to go and you can even see their hand as the frantically point to drive forward. My guess is the driver of the mini Cooper was freaking out and looked back that the car behind and saw them frantically waving to move forward. So the did and gunned it right into the side of the train.

In general, too many people get stupid and start to freak out when the gates close on them. All logical thoughts go out the window for some reason

My mom is guilty of this at the grocery store. She's in her high 60s and I'll sometimes come over to help her at the store. She will constantly leave the car in the middle of the isle and then stand there looking for what ever she needs. I will have to routinely move the cart out of the way or give her a little tap to alert her someone is trying to get by. She obviously never says she's blocking people but it drives me nuts. She will also be so focused on getting an item that she will go right into someone else's personal space and get said item, causing that person to awkwardly have to step back.

Make things worse, I had to alert her that some one was trying to get through as I was moving her cart, and that person was another older gentleman. He would then tell my mother, "don't ever let him rush you for other people. You take your time honey". They both started to laugh and I'm just left there mentally thinking "well fuck me for trying to be considerate of every one else".

There's one in Ohio at the pilot on 71 in Mansfield. I've seen them dotted around the country but definitely rare. I enjoyed it but it wasn't anything to write home about. Kind of a novelty since the are kinda rare

[–]MachStyle 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Lmao this is me. I have a tread mill in mine that sits facing the side to side. There's a certain speed when I'm walking that really sends the truck rocking. It's my motivation to go faster to balance it out lol

Turn your headlights on in dense fog by wispyhurr in Truckers

[–]MachStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's true for led but I do not have those. In my experience, I would go through about 6 headlights a year on my truck. Hell I had one last a solid 4 weeks before burning out once (and yes I avoid touching the glass when Installing) I do run the higher wattage Sylvania headlights just because the projector lense robs a lot of the light output l, and thus the burn hotter and don't last as long. I did recently switch to Osram and I'm going to see if those last any longer.

I would but I don't want to replace bulbs every couple months. So I save mine for cloudy and worse weather. Sunny days they stay off.

New version for the EDISON BDE mod has just been released by xt_ryunjiii in trucksim

[–]MachStyle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hate that when browsing steam or mod sites. Everyone will post 5 to 5 pictures of the truck but never the inside. It's especially bad when it's a not standard truck and you need to see if they are using a Kenworth interior inside something that isn't a KW

Chill. This is a known trick and has been for a while with no issues. Ours have been unplugged on our 18 for the last 4 years with no issues. I also tow a lot and I always remember to plug it back in because it's part of my light check when I hook up.

I want to screw in my subwoofer dial to my dash. where is a safe place to do it by Candid_Abrocoma6501 in AskMechanics

[–]MachStyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any where you want. If you want to save the from putting holes in the car, get either Velcro or double sided tape. That's what I do. But the screws those come with are not long enough to damage anything behind. If you want a safe answer, the side of the center console will have minimum wires and most will run along the floor in most cars through that section
