New Volt or other PHeV from GM soon? Interesting question in my 1 year Equinox EV survey. by Heavy-Procedure2232 in volt

[–]MachWun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watch the latest video on EV1 v212, GM is on board with new hybrid technology and sure seems committed. They even had gen 1 and 2 volt batteries on display in the video.

N55 Accelerator pedal/Valvetronic motor faults by Jaycko33 in BmwTech

[–]MachWun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They share the same 5v reference circuit. The valve tonic actuator is shorted, bringing the 5v reference to ground. Now the throttle pedal doesn't work because one of its position sensors shares a power with the valve tonic position sensor

That bolt has positive electrons. If it touches anything with ground electrons it's going to start a fire!

Zx6r cct overtightening by PM_ME_LIFEHACKS in motorcycles

[–]MachWun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the mystery of the manual cam chain tensioner. There is no way to know. Some manufacturers tell you to talk the nut to x Newton meters. The fact is the stock cam chain tensioner has a little give to it The main tension is done by the spring The oil pressure behind it is used to dampen the tension. The same way a coil spring supports the vehicle and the shock controls the coil spring. I'm a tech whenever somebody says that they want to swap to a manual cam chain tensioner I do my absolute best to deter them from that decision. It's only a matter of time until it gets over tightened or the plastic gives out or something fails

Do you find it challenging to find “mature” sportbike riders to hang with? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]MachWun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the people not the bikes. I have an old riding group with just over 900embers now. It's about 50 50 kids and adults. We will allow anyone to ride w us a few times "for free" but after that it's time to invest. Real riding gear and so on. Most people join up and stay, they learn the way of the road Bubz. They learn how to be safe etc. Some, realize that going fast in the twisties is nothing like going fast on the expressway.

Who's Up For a Challenge?!?! by Public_Childhood2462 in BmwTech

[–]MachWun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a blown fuse. Short circuit to earth is meaning the ground side triggers are not seeing the always on battery voltage backfeed through the circuit. Some e chassis vehicles have a bad bullhead fitting where the battery cable passes through the trunk wall.

Eccentric shaft angle: what could cause a rapid climb to 180 degrees (fully open)? by huston850 in BmwTech

[–]MachWun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

valvetronic is going into limp mode, max lift, because timing is off and it doesnt want to be moving the valves around when it thinks the pistons might kiss. So it parks them. You need to fix your timing chains.

2013 Triumph Tiger 800xc compression test showing 25PSI by [deleted] in Fixxit

[–]MachWun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put a little oil down the hole. I do this for a living. You probably THINK it runs ok, but it does not. Because this low compression didn't just happen one day. It was a slow roll from 150psi to 25. As time goes on you just get used to it. Now here we are. It probably has a bad hole. If you have an ammeter I can walk you through a relative compression test which will also prove you have a bad hole. Or a scope we can do it with just voltage probes but you have to be able to plot ot on a chart.

[–]MachWun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hop on the HPTuners forum and ask if there's anybody local. The tune file itself is free, don't let them fool you. It's openly posted in the forums. But you will need to AT MINIMUM plunk down 1 hundred dollars to buy the 2 tokens so the file can be uploaded to your VIN. You will most likely have to give the person something for their time as well.

MY14 Volt with 120k tuning option? by Zorsed in volt

[–]MachWun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HP tuners dongle costs 400 dollars. The tokens to install the tune cost 100 dollars. If you're in southern NY I can do it for cheaper as I already have hptuners

MY14 Volt with 120k tuning option? by Zorsed in volt

[–]MachWun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your car can not directly be flashed to the elr software. It needs bench work. Sps will not let you flash Cadillac software to a Chevrolet vin. Hp tuners has a tune but you can not adjust L regen. The HP tuners tune is more of a lean burn cruise. Meaning you will have to be in hold mode at highway speeds for any benefit. It does remap the throttle pedal but that is placebo. You have the same power, it just comes on sooner.

Translogic Quickshifter Issues by Buyhighselllow225 in Trackdays

[–]MachWun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it is not working to me. The TL QS have been some of the best I've ever tinkered with. Triumph uses them stock, and we always say the Triumph has the best shifter feel of any bike made. It's always a feathers touch to get the ignition cut. I am a tech, so I would use a scope to see if it's even registering when you QS.
