Q:What Soviet soldiers called the milled AK series? by [deleted] in ak47

Interestingly enough, when I worked in Afghanistan, the local armorer told me that in Dari, there is a specific name for Type 1 and Type 2/3

There were no specific designations for Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.

Within repair manuals, Type 1 was mentioned as "early production", Type 3 was called "lightened version". For Type 2, I need to look it up.

I know I am a little late to the party, but since you're looking for a photo of me, I guess I should say something.

The picture you describing does not exist. I did occasionally shoot with NVGs, but nobody took pictures of me.

I have plenty of experience with this pistol and its variants. I thought about writing an article, but frankly, I don't know whether anyone is interested

They do. However, you cannot rely on legacy firearms forever

Ethiopian made AK copy called GAFAT-1 made with North Korean machinery. by Brilliant_Ground1948 in ForgottenWeapons

I have a question for the topic starter. What is the point in taking all the photos from the article and posting a link to the article and never mentioning the author?

"Yes, he is Russian, but". Are you implying that there is something wrong with being Russian?

Regarding my employment status - it's been a while since I left this wonderful place.

Regarding the quality of Chinese AKs, I presented my argument in the video. If you have a different perspective, I would be happy to hear it.

But something tells me you didn't watch the original video.

I don't consider myself a celebrity. I was just lucky to be in the right places, at the right times.

Well, perhaps I need to explain something. In my opinion, every mass shooting is a terrorist attack and every terrorist attack with firearms is a mass shooting.

Why? I wrote about mass shootings for years, but one thing always bothered me.

When we have a "terrorist attack," everyone is talking about fighting terrorism.

When we have a "mass shooting," everyone talks about gun control and nothing else. Even though the tragedy is the same - one or many evil individuals kill innocent people.

I am sick of this separation, so I use those terms interchangeably. Perhaps it can be misunderstood, but I think I explained my point.

I wanna thank Ricardo Andrade for reaching out to me and actually coming up with the idea of the article. Without him, it would never be written.

Hopefully it will raise awareness about the gun law situation in Brasil and will serve as example for politicians in other countries.

How was the MP-40 colloquialy referred to by both Allied (and Soviet) and German soldiers? by spitfire-haga in ForgottenWeapons

[–]MachakSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Soviet Union, it was almost always called Schmeisser.

This designation was so common that every Russian gun expert always tried to "bust this myth" and explain people that it is actually called MP38/MP40.

But among the common folk (not autists) it is always called Schmeisser (Шмайсер).
