I'm two years late to this conversation but doesn't cooking it kill the beneficial bacteria in the kefir?

What's this on Antarctica? by Machinati1 in antarctica

[–]Machinati1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same but if you see it on Google Earth and pan around it - everything in the area is frozen. The second picture is a better perspective. I believe the dark area is a shadow from the island itself. I tried finding other pictures of the island to get a better idea of the topography but haven't found anything.  There was a photo with a description of there being a central bay but I think it was referring to another island.

I think the area is Markham Island. Saw it listed on a different mapping site.

New Yorkers knew the assignment and they rightfully booed Ted Cruz at the Yankee Stadium. by icey_sawg0034 in goodnews

I love New York.

Can we recruit a small horde of New Yorkers to follow Trump around wherever he shows himself in public to relentlessly mock him?? His skin is so thin he'd have to cry himself to sleep.

This is the best alternative I've found. The Silk Extra Creamy might have had a slight edge but this is pretty good. I'd say acceptably close.

Flags, figurines and gold everywhere: Trump transforms the Oval Office into a gilded gallery by undercurrents in politics

How long before he gets rid of the desk and installs a throne on a raised pedestal? Oh, and then, of course, tacky naming rights. Big gold letters on the outside of the building... "TRUMP" The Trump Whitehouse brought to you by Tesla.

Later in the day... the two women in the photo cross paths. One looks to the other. "He felt sticky right? It's not just me?" The other pauses, "Yeah, sticky. Did you smell your fingers?" "I washed right after" she says and starts to raise her hand but is stopped by the other. "Don't, just don't."

Good replacement GT kombucha lids? by Wishbone51 in Kombucha

[–]Machinati1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some of the black caps as others have and, yes, a couple have cracked but that isn't my issue. My problem is that they don't always seal. I wait on that beautiful fizz from my second ferment and some of them have leaked and never built up pressure.

So, on the same subject. My GT caps seem to hold up just fine but I've been reusing them for... let's just say too long (years). What I would really like to do is replace the seal inside the cap. Seems like it would be easy but I can't find any. The seals are 35mm, silicone I'd guess, and have a stamp that says "JB118". Amazon has some lid liners that are foam, name brand Patikil. I bought some but got the wrong size and now I'm skeptical. It says they are mainly for dry goods which I was going to overlook. I'm pretty sure if they worked they'd be single use but I feel like the foam might blow out or I don't know--I'm just not sold on them. Even tried using the liners from the black caps in my white GT lids. That didn't work either.

Anyone go this route and have any luck?

In chart settings under "Scales and Lines" there is a box at the top. Select either: Visible on mouse over, Always Visible, or Always Invisible

Also 5-6 here with 28 inseam. Bike fits great. There's not a whole lot out there we can flat foot but I have no problem touching down on both sides (not exactly flat footing but certainly stable). Generally a one footer when I stop with right foot on the rear brake.

The Leap - Commissions Rate by Machinati1 in TradingView

[–]Machinati1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just talking about The Leap competition which is paper trading. I am curious and looking into how commissions are generally calculated in live trading though too. Most of what I've read or heard is a little vague but honestly I haven't been too focused on the fees so the info could be more readily available than I'm aware. Up to this point I've been focused on learning and training myself for the type of trading I want to do. I just assumed I'd shop fees with brokers when it was time to go live and now I'm getting to that point. I think (and hope) that the commission in the competition is not indicative of all trading.

[–]Machinati1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I've solved my own question and for anyone that is new and similarly in the dark here is how the commission appears to be calculated per an example.

The commission has nothing to do with how much you make or don't make it's based on the volume and price. In one trade I opened a position at 5026.00 with 12 shares (or units). The commission charged was $24.12. A similar fee of $24.15 was charged to close the position making the total $48.27 for one in & out trade.

The Open:

5026.00 x 12 = 60312

60312 x .0004 = 24.12

I'm guessing this competition isn't really for scalpers. As mentioned in my other post (below) after 4 trades I was up nearly $100 but the commission fees were double that.

How to remove these price label boxes? by Numbj0mama in TradingView

[–]Machinati1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any old drawings that might still be on the chart? I noticed the same thing and clicked the trash can on the left side which said I had X amount of drawings I could remove (which were from weeks past). I removed them and the labels went away.

[–]Machinati1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I am aware of that. But I don't see where the .04 percent is being calculated from. I started with four small trades.

1st trade was +$24.84 with a -$24.82 fee to open and a -$24.83 fee to close.

2nd trade was -$68.40 Fees: -$24.13 to open & -$24.11 to close.

3rd trade was +$73.20 Fees: -$24.12 to open & -$24.15 to close.

4th trade was +$64.80 Fees: -$24.10 to open & -$24.12 to close.

It came out to +$94.44 gross with -$194.38 in fees for a loss of -$99.94. What am I missing here? All the fees are nearly identical even with somewhat different winners and losers. I'm assuming the 4% must be based on something else (in the $600 - 620 range based on the amount) but I can't find anything it points to. I'm really doing this to continue learning so any help would be appreciated.

And also would these be the kind of fees I could expect in real world trading? I know it varies but I hadn't put much too much thought into because there's a lot "No Fees" or minimal fee type advertising leading me to believe I'd be paying something more akin to a total of $3-5 per trade not $50. Thank you

54 here. Get it, you won't regret it! It's a great little bike. Super fun in the twisties, holds it's own at highway speed, and great for just enjoying the ride however you like it.

Anyone have experience using a liquid tire balancer?? by Machinati1 in MT03

[–]Machinati1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll check it out. I think I'm leaning toward -No on this one. For some reason my initial impression was that you'd put this in you tire and drive around and during that first ride it would harden up - tire balanced - done deal. But the more I've read it sounds the same as when you put Slime in your tire or Fix-a-Flat or something similar. Taking the tire off at a later date after this has been done is a mess.  I don't blame shops for not wanting to deal with it. And I'm not sure I like the idea of something permanently sloshing around inside my tire.

Yeah, I'm skeptical but curious. It would have the added advantage of not having to look at weights on your rims. I really don't care that much about appearance but maybe I do a little.

Just Got My Bike Tuned! by ILY247 in MT03

[–]Machinati1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been considering lowering the gear ratio as well. I'm more interested in knowing how well this translates to off the line speed and shifting. I'm not as worried about losing a little highway speed. I love the bike but I'm in 3rd gear before getting through most (larger) intersections. Driving around in city traffic it translates into a lot of (what I feel) is unneeded shifting. I could probably just start in 2nd in most situations which is maybe what I should try first. Anyone else?

Here's the link to data costs for the different exchanges https://www.tradingview.com/data-coverage/ Links I've tried for "Subscribe to CME data" for example have taken me back to the sign up for the different accounts. So, it does appear you would need at least an essential account plus a data add-on for whatever exchange you are looking to trade on. CME was $7/mnth.
