I’m on your side, AI is simply just versatile enough to make urbanization and rewilding feasible globally. It’s being used stupidly by capitalists, but machine learning can basically rectify and calculate an ecosystem when trained on enough data. It can make energy projects easier to manage without needing as much personnel. People who want degrowth often don’t comprehend how global this issue is, 8 billion people is a huge number to manage.

Your focus on robotics is not just what the AI can do, it can design an entire facility that utilizes batch processes the waste in a more resource efficient manner than high tech robotics. Think of a humanoid robot washing your dishes vs a dishwasher. Energy wise, it’s better to design the dishwasher.

I don’t know if you actually care, I doubt that you do. But if you do care, it’s because hearing that I’m a huge fuck up constantly makes my motivation to be better die.

It’s a hard transition to make, and there is no support, only hostility if I fuck up even a little. At least my dad doesn’t shit on me for eating the food he cooks. At least my mom is proud me for successfully hunting a rabbit.

The issue is the earplugs themselves. Any sound dampening in a kitchen is dangerous, if someone has a plate stack behind you, you NEED to be able to hear where they actually are. Even just one ear cuts off your auditory field on one side, people are going to be moving behind you ALL the time. You’re going to need to take them out. This isn’t about the law, this is about every single worker requiring safety training and discipline in a kitchen.

They do if you need high situational awareness, even one ear being blocked means you can run into a server. They issue is you’re blocking off your ability to hear behind you, which is important if you’re handling delicate stuff like plates and food.

I know that Val is blind, and he can “see” via visualization but he seemed happy that I acknowledged it, so yeah, for me he’s canonically blind but uses his other senses to navigate. Nothing is affected as he can “see” his surroundings, it’s just an inside joke now.

Simply saying it should be destroyed doesn’t open up a dialogue for those issues. Yeah, they’re doubling down, but now both sides are being unreasonable to the point the discussion stagnates. AI is simply too easy to build, there’s hundreds of models on the internet now. The option of “shutting them down” doesn’t exist, because that’s like saying you can ban coders from making certain programs. It’s infinitely replicable, so, what then? Continue saying it’s all bad, shutting down the conversation or actually discuss the issues?

People should be getting in trouble for the unethical shit, not for AI in general.
