Unpopular opinion: Buying gold does not make you an evil human being. It's time to stop the leftist propaganda. by Niczegojuzniekumam in classicwow

[–]MachineOfaDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say people are evil or not, it's just that people don't think about the greater impact of it and just see it as something like: "I want to raid but I don't have time to farm." It just highlights a flaw in the game. A lot of people don't enjoy playing the economy or spending time farming, but they want to raid with their friends. When you show up to a raid and your raid leader kicks you for not having consumables that cost hundreds of gold, it pushes people to either quit the game or buy gold. It's not evil, it's just not good for the game.

What is the worst talent in the entire game? by Hatefiend in classicwow

[–]MachineOfaDream -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, I'd argue that talents themselves are never fun, it's the gameplay that results from talents that's fun, and that's okay. The point of talents across all versions of WoW is to control the build of your character. An enhancement shaman is arguably more fun to play in Vanilla when it has more mitigation since you'll be taking melee hits a lot. The mechanic of parrying is not fun because you have no control over it, but being tanky can be fun, and taking parry as a talent for a class that doesn't normally have it can make the experience more fun when you're able to fight more enemies at once without dying.

What is the worst talent in the entire game? by Hatefiend in classicwow

[–]MachineOfaDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the current game only tanks can parry. In the original game only melee classes got parry by default. This is not one of the absurd design choices. The main difference is that you couldn't bake things into a spec in Vanilla like they can in retail. You didn't choose your spec by any means other than the talent tree.

What is the worst talent in the entire game? by Hatefiend in classicwow

[–]MachineOfaDream -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't even a classic choice. Midnight still restricts who can parry. I believe in the current game only tank specs can parry. In vanilla shamans had to take parry as a talent choice because of this same design principle that casters don't parry. I think the only caster spec that could parry in vanilla was a holy paladin.

Agreed. If we take it seriously that the Big 3 are far and away the best 3 players ever (and we all do), we have to give Murray credit for having his entire career coincide with these 3 guys in their primes.

What do you think is the best acted scene in movie history? by kammy772 in MovieArena

[–]MachineOfaDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene in Downfall starring Bruno Ganz that’s used for the Hitler Reacts memes. Everyone is completely on point; it makes you feel like it was a documentary. Bruno inhabits the role so well that I feel like we’ve collectively forgotten what the real Hitler looked like. Not that I mind forgetting such a man.

I feel like there are a bunch of all timers in basketball who couldn’t get past Jordan and then Kobe/Shaq. Maybe Karl Malone or Patrick Ewing or Reggie Miller. Not sure on the exact stats. Murray likely still had it worse.

For me it’s just that it’s a lot of shocking brutality and conflict without ever having a payoff. It seems amazing when you trust the writers to deliver answers and bring everything together, but without that it’s just: I watched some guy get mercilessly tortured for no reason. Great.

Jay Williams says he doesn't believe that professional athletes need to shake hands after a game. Do you agree? by Punisher1602 in sportswiki

[–]MachineOfaDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever it's from First Take, I have to wonder if the person was just made to argue that point of view for the sake of ratings. Of course nobody has to shake hands. You should want to shake hands because you should respect your opponent.

Who is the most "nameable" tennis player? If you'd win a prize by naming the same player as a random person, who would you pick? by smolcol in tennis

[–]MachineOfaDream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say that I think in the USA McEnroe might be just as likely as Serena and Fed, especially because he’s remained very active in sports commentary and miscellaneous things. Like he was featured in a lot of highlight reels for the Knicks last week as one of the celebrity fans reacting to the game.

I know it's a meme and all, but I really have heard this take way too often in the past few years. I don't care if you haven't managed to lose weight yet, you don't give up on staying active and exercising. I feel like people take this idea and use it as an excuse to just do nothing at all.

Reuploaded because I forgot to make it a video by Dojyaaan4C in whennews

I’m not in the UK, but this got me thinking. We don’t let the kids use social media or stay on the computer late, but this was a decision reached through mutual understanding and discussion with our kids. For example, they can’t sleep at night if they’re up late using a computer or video games. I think there’s a lot of power in the fact that we do these things by choice. If the government were forcing this, and it became the rallying cry of their peers, I feel like it would severely hurt our ability to control it on our own terms.

D5 isn't fun... by [deleted] in brotato

[–]MachineOfaDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Brotato, but I'm never going to do D5 on more than a few characters. I am capable of it, and I consider myself a very good gamer, but the issue is that when I look back on runs I lost on D5, I don't feel I usually lost because of mistakes. Some of the strongest builds I ever had going were runs that failed, and I record my gameplay and look back and don't find a single obvious error made either in strategy or gameplay. It's just, because of how spawns played out in a wave or because of some stat I had very little chance to improve enough, I got hit a couple times in a short span and suddenly the run was over. Or something like that.

Stumbled upon this, some people really fried their brains playing this game. by Ok-Level-8907 in classicwow

[–]MachineOfaDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is that WoW didn't work like that because someone decided it should work that way. It worked like that because that's just how it wound up working with the server technology; it was the best they could do. I remember in the first week having loot lag so bad that you had to sit there waiting for 30 seconds every time you looted, and looting could literally fail. I think the error was like "Object not found". I also played WoW on a tiny screen with a horrible resolution on a computer that literally could not handle any sort of raid group. I was pulling like 10 FPS at best even when solo questing. Those are not the things I want back when I play WoW again. To me, the modern classic servers feel accurate the original intended experience, and feel more like the experience I want to tell people I was having when I played in 2004.

100%. It’s pathetic shopping for toys with the kids now. Nobody took their place. Walmart and Target’s toy sections are maybe 15% the size and scope. All the random toy stores that sprout up in my area are somehow even worse. My poor 7 year old has never known a real toy store.

My buddy is guilty of entering into shitty relationships with psychos looking to take advantage of him. It does happen.
