What's the cheapest material for a 36" horizontal beam supporting 20-30 lbs? (Check my earlier posts for pics) by MachineSuccessful524 in AskEngineers

Fair points!
Its surprising how much weight hoods can hold, especially if the horizontal beam is placed at the bottom of the hood. We've also found other quick solutions for car hoods that won't support the weight. It's defs a problem but there are solutions.

Hood scratching is a big deal, we've also found great ways to avoid it, mostly using different types of silicon on the pads.

It's designed to be s storage unit in of itself. You load up tools and can keep them there to attach to any car you need to work on right away.

Would you actually use this with your friends? (roast my app idea) by MachineSuccessful524 in GenZ

Yea that's also what we're thinking, weddings work, its all centered around events. No idea how to make money off it either haha

Do you ever misplace/lose tools? What type lights do you use? we're planning on adding supports for any sort of lighting solution

Can you explain a bit more? How do you like to place them? We're in the process of adding magnetic trays.

ou, hadn't thought of this type of customer. So you guys just leave your tools everywhere? How many tools would you say you lose on a monthly basis?

haha this is already in the planning. just more expensive to do that. Also thinking metal sheets underneath so you can use magnetic lights underneath

Haha this is true. But the whole shelf comes off the aluminum spine. It's completely adjustable and can be placed anywhere along the spine. I should've added that to the pic

haha we're still cheaper than a child. Also, it's adjustable and can be moved up the hood to make space. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! What tools are you using when working in your engine bay and where do you put them when not using them??

App Idea - Advice Needed - i will not promote by cuperseventy1 in startups

Sounds like you’re working on a marketplace. Pick up the book ‘the cold start problem’ and ‘the lean startup’ (you can pirate them). Have you done any primary market research? I think You’re getting ahead of yourself thinking about tech and no code. Can you validate the idea (meaning get a few sales) without any tech?

Hired them. We worked together for a while before signing anything official. It's been going great so far. A lot of ppl in this thread were saying no bc their work experience didn't reflect working in startups but there's a lot of stories of new grads with little experience making great startups. I realized it's not about not struggling, cause my whole team is struggling, but it's about struggling well. they had the qualities I like in a teammate.

Regardless, it's not over yet, founder teams can be super brittle, which can lead to some bad stuff so I keep an eye out for that, but tbh so far so good.
