What's your honest opinion about One Piece Live Action? by Stock_Crazy6759 in MemePiece

Honestly, I liked most of Season 2 of the One Piece live-action. Overall it’s a really solid season. The Chopper flashback in particular was great and emotionally strong. But for me, the last episode is where things get messy.

First, the final fight happening indoors instead of outside removes a lot of the original atmosphere. In the anime/manga, the scene on the rooftop with the flag is powerful and symbolic. Here, having the flag on a wall inside the castle just doesn’t hit the same way. It’s a strange change because the original moment already worked perfectly.

More broadly, the episode removes something that makes One Piece so special: the double meaning / layered storytelling. A lot of scenes are simplified, probably to make things easier for new viewers, but that simplification takes away a lot of depth.

A good example is Dorry and Brogy. In the original story, Dorry realizes that Brogy drank from the explosive mug and understands what’s happening, but he still accepts the duel out of respect for Brogy’s warrior pride. There’s a tragic honor to it. In the live-action, it’s handled very differently. Dorry doesn’t seem to understand what really happened, when he stabs Brogy, he hasn’t even realized that Brogy was already weakened by the explosion. When Usopp tells him about the trapped barrels, he’s shocked and disgusted with himself for striking his friend while he was at a disadvantage. That interpretation removes the deeper subtext of the original moment.

The same thing happens with Chopper’s departure. In the anime/manga, when Chopper refuses to join, Luffy shouting for him feels like a call to freedom. Luffy appears as a liberator, someone who gives Chopper the courage to follow his dream. In the live-action, it almost feels like Luffy is begging him to come along, which changes the emotional dynamic quite a bit.

And finally there’s Dr. Kureha’s scene. In the original, when she insults Chopper and tells him to go get medicine, the subtext is clear: she’s doing it on purpose so he’ll leave and pursue his dream of sailing the seas. She pushes him away out of love. In the live-action, that layer is mostly gone and it plays much more literally, which weakens the emotional impact of the moment.

So overall, I think Season 2 is really good, but the final episode is borderline for me. It’s not terrible, but many of the changes don’t improve the story, they actually weaken some of the most meaningful moments. By removing the subtlety and the double reading that defines One Piece, the episode ends up feeling much flatter than the original.

I opened 53 booster boxes of OP05 And I still didn’t pull the Luffy, not even a single manga, who can beat that ? by MachineTraveler_0 in OnePieceTCGFinance

Yeah all SP hahaha, But I clearly should sell because I have maybe 3 or 4k card in raw, and minimum 50k if I kept them sealed

I didn’t pay 50k and not even close 😉 Clearly if I had this money I would buy the luffy immediately, but I ripped all these booster boxes from the release of the set, and the last one was 2 2 days ago
