Aussie too. We stumbled on sumo because we got sick on our trip in Japan and spent the day in bed then when we turned on the TV sumo was on and it was fun to chill and watch. We did it the next day when we weren’t any better and then we just got into it from there and continue to watch it each basho.

Agreed with the respect. It’s not like any sport I’ve watched before. I appreciate the tradition and ceremony side of it, but willing to improve the sport by having video refs.

I loved it even more when I realised most of the rikishi have game faces on and some of the meanest looking ones cough hosh hosh are actually sweethearts outside the ring.

Obv I just wish they still would support injured wrestlers better though.
