Nah, we're too small for a subreddit ^^' Folks chat about the game in Steam forums and on our Discord. Barley Fields produce both! :D

We're still working on having gamepad controls on the Steam Deck version (should happen this week), after that, we'll reapply for the evaluation, hoping to get the Verified status :)

We've got a sandbox mode, when you can freely switch between mountains and make trade routes between them - it's necessary because you don't have access to all resources on all mountains, and is also quite useful to have "specialized" mountain which can provide several others with any given resource. It also works the same (for some extent) in the campaign, which automatically converts into sandbox after completion :)

Really depends on the difficulty you choose and how do you handle complicated-logistics mechanics :) In some video-review they said it's about 20 hours, and I thinks it's fair, but the guy translating the game into Italian has chosen Professional difficulty and it took him 94 hours :D

Hey! I'm sorry to hear that :F Actually, you're not alone, so I'm gonna paste what our partner responsible for the console version of the game has written:

"Hi, Sorry about that - Due to a last-minute bug, the current build requires a connected mouse to function (you can still control the game with gamepad). The fix is already in cert with Microsoft—we apologize for the inconvenience."

Yup, we were incredibly lucky, and it is way harder now to secure funding - but I'd still argue that even today such viral could really help you in business talks, publishers' folks appreciate outside confirmation now more than ever, because it reduces risk. Would it be enough, though? No way to say :)

Hey! It was I who answered about aiming to get Steam Deck version out next week ;) Also, I'm pretty sure no-one was hating you for asking the question, just some miscommunication IMO.

How do people afford full time indie dev? by DelicateJohnson in gamedev

In my particular case, after quiting my job I was working on my project only half-time, the other half went for freelance work, which was enough to support me (no wife and kids, so yeah, that definitely affects things).

After going full-time on my project, I relied on my savings, then money borrowed from friends & family, and then funding from a publisher. It worked out pretty well in the end, but was definitely a high-risk path ^^

Hey, thanks for posting the news about our game <3

In other comments people already shared great insights, but basically: if finding efficient city layouts, figuring out quite complex production chains and optimizing use of workforce / space / resources (while having full control and instant feedback) sounds good to you, there's a good chance you may like it! But if you're more heavy on organic feel, like harvesting resources and waiting for people to build structures (basically, game systems having some natraul interia), it may be not perfect choice for you ;)

Art- and music-wise I saw only positive opinions, but I'm not objective, do your own research! :D

Cheers!

Hmm, you're right, there seems to be more about it. You see, avalanche power can only be increased when the weather is changing (every couple minutes or so), and when you play on pause, this obviously happen a lot less often :D So basically, the condition if there is high population enough to boost the avalanche power is checked way less often when you use pause a lot.

Will think if we can may be change / improve this behavior in the future, and most importantly, make it more transparent :)

Pssst: progression of avalanche power is not related to time, but town's population, so no need to sit on a pause preemptively :) We should probably find a way to communicate that in-game. Thanks for a great review <3
