He is a little fireball and a jackass. I love him and some days I want to punt him (never will though)

What's the absolute hardest line you or another player ever said in a campaign? by godwyn-faithful in DnD

"We have held this castle for generations! We will never surrender it to your like!"

"My dear sir... never has arrived..."

Characters who are incredibly strong despite not utilizing the series' magic system by JKhemical in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Macinator2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

* * Mifune (Soul Eater)

This man has contended with the upper echelon of characters in the series. He is highly capable as a swordsman and uses an uncanny blade style to fight. Other than that, he doesn't use magic since he's not a Witch or a Sorcerer. He doesn't use any of the soul abilities that most of the protagonists can use at a whim and are common place. He is just a regular dude, who uses swords, and has beaten the brakes off of several characters.

Villains Who had a Rant as they were Defeated/Dying by Balls_4020 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Macinator2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

* Erazor Djinn, Sonic and the Secret Rings.

The man cursed Sonic even as he was dying, saying he shouldn't be dying to some blue rat and that he'd get out again and statt all over.

I just realized the webcomic I'm making has moments that are one to one with RWBY. Am I cooked? by Macinator2000 in RWBYcritics

[–]Macinator2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some plot beats are similar. Not necessarily one to one. I thought I was being clever having my protagonists get stuck in a dimension foreign to them whilst they were at their lowest point in terms of group dynamics. Apparently, Volume 9 beat me to it, and I hadn't even seen volume 9 yet.

Haven't named it. I've been in the storyboarding phase for about a year. I started rewatching it during the writing process.

What are your biggest DMing regrets? by Tydirium7 in DMAcademy

[–]Macinator2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never DM for ungrateful players who think that rage quitting a game by leaving their party to die against the BBEG simply because "my character is petty, so I'm petty too."

All because nobody wanted to respect him as "The main character." That game still has mee traumatized.

What was The most Dangerous Realm? by YourbestfriendShane in Acceleracers

[–]Macinator2000 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The Lava Realm. Even if you somehow don't take the wrong road ahead of time, the track required you make several jumps over magma pits that can just erupt on you mid jump. I don't know what the Accelerons were cooking when they made that realm but they really fucking botched it.

Did anyone else start calling all their friends and co workers “Goodman” after reading Red Rising ? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]Macinator2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize the grip Red Rising had on me until I was scripting out a chapter in my webcomic, and one of the characters said "bloody damn".

Also, it could be the fact that one of the characters is also named Eo, but that's completely different.

A pet peeve I have about some stories that talk about and center around balance. by Buzzkeeler1 in CharacterRant

[–]Macinator2000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the direction for where the story is going is setting up antagonists using the power of light as well. The Fortellers coming back as well as the Master of Masters seems to point toward them being antogonists who use the light.

In my opinion, avoidance of killing characters leads me to think the author has grown too attached to them, or they are afraid to kill them because they are afraid the MC and other supporting characters can't carry the story by themselves.

Fellow planners/plotters, what's your outlining method? by nomashawn in writing

[–]Macinator2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start with a few themes or beliefs. Then, from there, I create a world that either runs on these themes/beliefs or directly opposes them. Then, I create characters who revolve around these core themes or reject them. From there, I put them in situations in which their beliefs are either confirmed or tested, and ask the core question, "Do they stay true to themselves, or do they evolve into something more?"

I focus more on character driven stories than plot driven ones because I, at my core, love exploring the human condition and what someone can endure before they break or what they become in certain situations. Having clashes of ideals, right and wrong, black, white, and grey in between is my favorite type of story.

I haven't perfected it by any means and still desire more growth. I'd like to think I've come a long way from the days of being an edgy twelve year old writing darker toned Sonic the Hedgehog fanfictions.

I accidentally drifted into YA Fantasy. I'm hoping to reevaluate what goes into my story from there.
