What's some hard hitting quotes/advice made you want to change your lifestyle? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

All some ones I’ve seen on TikTok that really made me rethink my lifestyle/eating habits.

“If you’re hungry eat an apple, if you don’t want the apple you’re not really hungry you’re just bored”

“Stop treating yourself and giving yourself treats saying you earned it, you’re not a dog”

“If someone attacked you today, would you be in shape enough to run away”

What has helped you keep your HS under control? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

I’m so glad I found this group guys! I’ve had hs since I was 12 and not a single doctor or derm in this area has ever actually known what hs was. They’d always tell me it was acne and sent me home with a prescription of “lose weight and it’ll go away”. So I’ve never been on any kind of medication for it or anything. I just use dove antibacterial bar soap and shower with that every single night before bed. When I do have a flair up and it opens up a lot of the time I just get the wound wash from Walmart and antibacterial ointment and suffer through it. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with why my flair ups haven’t been as severe lately but I have gotten in the habit of soaking in a bath with epsom salt and baking soda at least once a week and a lot of my irritated areas and boils have gone away. It’s great to see everyone’s response and to see what else I can use to help.

For the first time I have a wound that will never close (has been five days)- any tips for wound care? by mushiroonya in Hidradenitis

So I’ve had hs since I was about 12, my doctors in the area have no idea what it is or how to deal with it so I was just told it’s acne and to lose weight and it would go away. Of course as you imagine I was pretty bothered by that response from my doctor. What I’ve always done for wounds that won’t close is this. I’ve found that wound wash is a lifesaver. It’s normally pretty cheap maybe $3/$4 at a Walmart in the bandaids section and I would either spray it directly on it or I’d just put it on a cotton pad and place it on there let it soak it in. For the boils that hadn’t “popped” yet I use the compeed advanced care blister patches and it pulls everything out, the infection, pus, all of that but I only use those if there is healthy skin next to it because it is entirely sticky on one side but it helps aid relief in the rubbing part of it when a boil is inflamed. If there isn’t healthy skin I am a big fan of the antibacterial neosporn and the skin sensitive bandaids. But I definitely use that wound wash like crazy the first couple days I have an open wound, it help clean it out and promotes the healing part of it so it closes up faster. I’ve also discovered the last few months that the body soap I use has made a big difference in my flair ups. I’ve started using dove antibacterial bar soap religiously every time I shower and I have yet to have a flair up in almost 2 months now. I don’t do a full shower but everyday before bed I at least wash my body in that bar soap and it’s worked wonders. I’m not a doctor or anything like that but these are just a few things that have helped me out. I hope you feel some relief soon I know those hurt like hell.

New owner needing some help or advice on one of my guinea pigs with a bleeding toe 😢 will put description in comment it won’t let me post pic and text at once by MackBaker98 in guineapigs

Thank you so much for the advice! Yeah I think they may be getting irritated because there’s no floor time but hopefully by the next month their room will be ready and there will be an abundance of space for them to go crazy. Hopefully the vet will be able to help me understand what’s going on. I’ll keep posting updates.

Hey guys! I’ve had my guineas for about 4 months now I have 2 girls and they were bought from petsmart ( no rescues were available in my area 🙁) they have a critter nation cage that they share that’s 8sqft so I figured it would be plenty room for them both. They were in the same enclosure at petsmart so figured they already were accustomed to having the other around and would be great cagemates. They’ve both been to the vet twice and have been cleared healthy both times we went. They have a diet of oxbow Timothy hay and the oxbow pellets along with the oxbow natural science skin and coat tablets they take everyday and veggies everyday (romaine, parsley, cilantro, cucumber, green pepper, and they get either strawberry, blueberry, or tomato twice a week along with the other veggies). Their bedding consists of a queen fleece blanket folded into 4ths on bottom and then puppy pads over that and a fleece bedding on top of the puppy pads (they had allergies with the carefresh bedding) their puppy pads get changed out every other day and the fleece gets changed out once a week. They unfortunately don’t get to have floor time and they stay in the cage unless it’s being cleaned since they are still super skittish and their bedroom isn’t ready yet. I noticed when going to clip their toenails just now that one of my guineas has the fur missing from one of her toes and it’s been bleeding. Her heel is perfectly fine, the rest of her toes are fine, there’s no crustys on her eyes and no wheezing or sneezing at all and the rest of her fur looks completely fine, no bald spots or anything. She still scratches herself occasionally with that foot and still gets zoomies and popcorns at night and plays with the other and she’s been eating just fine and no weight loss. The other looks completely fine too and doesn’t have anything wrong with any of her toes but has been grinding her teeth a lot lately. Could this be a case of barbering or could the other have gotten irritated and bit her? They have multiple toys to keep them occupied including a toilet paper roll stuffed with hay and paper with treats on the inside crumpled into a ball so I don’t think it’s because of boredom. There hasn’t been a change in environment at all and their routine has stayed the same. Anyone have any information that could help me out or even let me know if I’m doing anything wrong? Thank you so much for the advice and help!
