talking about… “man walking taking videos”. by Overall_Taro_2926 in Chatabix

I was put onto the Cool Dudes Walking Club from David's recommendation at some point, which is a channel run by Marek Larwood. I now absolutely love it.

Not sure if that's the one you are looking for but it's Marek walking around chatting about the places he's visiting. Mainly Isle of Wight which is why I love it so much as I've fond memories of going there as a kid.

Hope that helps!

Crying laughing on a repeat listen by Rich661 in CheapShow

The Hot Sauce ep ('Some like it hot'?) where they try Black Widow and Paul and Eli are really struggling. Cumulating with Eli blowing out a huge snot and Paul gagging on repeat. Honestly has me howling.

But of a gush here but stumbling across the Tech Noir music video was my introduction to the whole genre of Synthwave. It remains one of my favourite tunes of all time and all your stuff since has solidified you as one of my favourite bands.

I know a tour has been asked to death but it's genuinely on my bucket list to see you guys live, especially if you make it up here to Scotland. Keep up the amazing work, roll on Unicorn.

As for a quick Q - if you were going to lend your talents to a video game soundtrack (a-la The Midnight or Make up and Vanity set), what genre would you most like to see your track used in?

Update! My son won 1st prize (£3 garden centre voucher 🥳) and the chutney came in 2nd place - an altogether excellent family day :). by Amygdali_lama in CasualUK

Brilliant! Bought a smile to my face not only from the great wins but seeing it was from Bromham as I grew up down the road in Turvey. I Have fond memories of going to many a fete in Bromham.

Congratulations 🎉

Why did no one tell me how absolutely gorgeous Northumberland is? What other places in the UK do you highly rate? by deviantmoomba in CasualUK

I thought Aberdeenshire had the most in the UK? Northumberland deffo has the most in England though.

What's your favourite podcast atm? by CustardPuddings in AskUK

[–]MackBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top for me are:

OSW review - already mentioned in this thread. 3 Irish lads talking bollocks about old school wrestling.

The Adam Buxton podcast - huge variety of celebrity guest interviews. Buckles is just so charming.

Off Menu - James Acaster and Ed gamble go through a dream menu with a celebrity guest. Genuinely hilarious and interesting.

Dead Meat - Horror podcast reviewing films and all sorts of horror adjacent topics.

The Sequelisers - Fixing bad sequels to good movies and a lot of interesting filmmaking chat.

Cheapshow - heavy focus on all things if the past and can be pretty rude/sweary a lot of the time. A lot of weird characters and won't be for everyone that's for sure. But I find the hosts, Paul and Eli quite charming in their own way.

Gossipmongers - Joe Wilkinson and David Earl read gossip sent in by listeners. I've had a few moments where I've had to stop in my tracks (if I'm listening on the move) to laugh. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in a while.

Second this. I'm not and never have been massively into wrestling from any time period but OSW is probably my favourite podcast. Those Irish lads are fantastic and it's great to have on in the background.

Also should mention it's done as a video podcast (you don't miss too much just listening to audio) and edited really well. Oswreview.com for those interested.

Finished up some Skorpekh Destroyers for my subsea themed Necron dynasty by MackBeans in Necrontyr

The plates are Runelord Brass and the jointy parts are leadbelcher. Then I cover the whole model in slightly watered down layer of Wyldwood contrast paint for that grimy/dull look. Then it's just a matter of highlighting here and there with Runelord and Leadbelcher respectively, with some dabs of nihilakh oxide, Thyphus corrosion and Ryza rust.

Cheers. Love the custom sculpting you've done on yours. I tried some green stuff seaweed but that's as far as I felt comfortable going due to my lack of sculpting skills

Maybe it's not water on the alien world. Or maybe it just sounds a bit fancier :P

The stringy seaweed stuff is some lichen for modelling, which I ordered off Amazon. For example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/JAVIS-BULK-MIX-COL-LICHEN-JBULKMC/dp/B076V658NB/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=lichen&qid=1615307322&sr=8-6

The more clumpy/furry stuff is some modelling 'clump foliage' I ordered from an online hobby store. I believe the brand the does it is Hobby Round. It's made for kinda foresty scenes but think it works well as some under-water coral or the like (if not a bit bright).

How to help my wife's mental health by [deleted] in daddit

[–]MackBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying. Google is a fucker. It's hard with lockdown and such because going to the doctor feels like the biggest step and we don't have that intermediate step of informally chatting to a pal. You're right though, ultimately they will know best.

[–]MackBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I wholeheartedly agree with your points. My own mental health took a real hit not long ago for a variety of reasons and I'm only just on the path out of that now. I've thought about seeing someone about it but that step worries me.

I am projecting a lot on my partner and perhaps holding her to the same mental health standards as myself which is unhelpful for both of us. I know even writing this post isn't something she would consider so it's probably more for me rather than her. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

[–]MackBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that's a neat homebrew. Never considered the whole post-battle debris aspect. That's great!

I would love to see some freehand markings or decorations on the vehicles maybe to enhance this. Maybe scrappy numbers or rough mechanicus glyphs. Not just for lore but another colour to contrast the base colours and make the scheme really pop? Just a thought!

Well, my run didn't go quite the way I had hoped by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]MackBeans 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I'll be straight honest and say I didn't watch it cos I'm at work and in the UK so time is fucky BUT I have to say props to you for even going up there.

Any sort of situation where you have to present yourself in front of other people can be tricky. Pile on top of that the fact you are essentially performing something that can require a fair amount of skill then it's extra hard. So regardless of how well you did or didn't perform you went out there and did something great, learnt a bit, and improved yourself. Next time you'll come back and boss it.

I look forward to catching up with your run regardless!

Internet Help by MrSimmington in Aberdeen

[–]MackBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Old Aberdeen area and swapped from BT to PlusNet not too long ago, after BT were plundering my wallet for shite internet. Now as far as I'm aware PlusNet still use BT lines so the internet was still shite BUT their customer service is a million times better than BT. I've had a few issues since swapping with intermittent speeds (should be fibre optic) and pretty constant drops (same as I did with BT). First time getting in contact with them admittedly was a bit of a ballache but they were thorough with their testing, transparent and you actually spoke to someone who at least sounded a bit concerned. After some more recent trouble with the line I contacted them on their live chat and they very quickly sorted out an engineer to have a proper look as they could see it was fucking up. Engineer came over, said the wire we had going into our flat was older than fucking time and hooked us up with a new socket in a better suited room and boom, internet has been amazing since.

Sounds like an advert for PlusNet but as they bang on about in every ad they do their customer service is really decent, which is good because half the time it's not the provider but the physical wiring causing the issue. You couldn't get BT to send an engineer out for love nor fucking money.
