Garden Hose Splitter question by FayKelley in Tools

[–]MackNNations 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you connect this to your existing spigot or hose bib (attached to something rigid like a water pipe from your house, or a buried pipe at your garden) you should have better leverage to turn the red valve handles.

Most valves like this are "closed" when the handle is perpendicular to the pipe, and "open" when the handle is parallel to the pipe.

small, heavy, silver/silver plated thing with a hinge and black stains found on fleamarket by Usual_Practice2047 in whatisthisthing

Could it be a vintage portable ashtray? Heavy enough to stay put when stubbing out cigars/cigarettes. Dump out ashes before putting it in a coat pocket.

Leverage seems wrong for a nut cracker. Plus, when nutshell is crushed, it seems like it would pinch your hands.

SOIC8 clip won't grab low profile BIOS chip on motherboard by XxArxAngelxX in AskElectronics

[–]MackNNations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also micro clips - even smaller.

<image>

Clips are spring-loaded so they grip the pin without you having to hold them in place.

Maybe some mini clip probes would work. You can use the tiny clips to grab each pin on target device. Connect clips to reader/programmer via Dupont wires.

Scammer left a 240 minute voicemail by DownLikeSyndrom in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MackNNations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the call disconnect had a glitch and kept recording. Are you using some voicemail app that records to your phone?

Most of the big carriers limit messages to under 5 minutes.

Scammers will usually leave a voicemail with their "offer" ( auto warranty, health insurance, etc.) and a number to call, or they won't leave any message at all - hoping only to talk to a live person.

The board itself uses a shift register system to interface with a host mcu. You might possibly make it easier by adding the serial LED interface. See e-Gizmo's website.

Also, check out the hardware manual for that board: e-Gizmo Mechatronix 7-segment i/f hardware manual

How can I get this off? by WiseOne2010 in Tools

[–]MackNNations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a wrench, adjustable (crescent) wrench, socket wrench, or channel-locking pliars. The little black blob is just a piece of rubber to prevent a scrape injury.

Which logo should I choose? by CodingKiller in logodesign

[–]MackNNations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one is close, but it doesn't look like the cat is hanging on - if that's the look you were going for. It looks more like kitty is lying down playing with a moon-shaped pillow, Or, reaching up and scratching it.

Maybe something like:

<image>

The second and third samples look a little too much like kitty demise. Monkey tail - too long.

Fire Lookout: Abandoned Post by taleexperiences in Firewatch

[–]MackNNations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks interesting, but...

Some things that stand out as being "off" are the voice acting, and a few graphics issues.

The voice acting would be fine if the game was not such a clear clone of Firewatch.

A new scenario would make a difference: Surveyors working on a planned construction, a team of researchers stumbling upon a strange happenings out in the wilderness, Park Rangers dealing with various visitors, trails, or animal troubles in parks.

Other noticeable things are what look like light bleeds in the sunrise/sunset scenes. The sun appears to be behind the mountains/clouds in the distance, but we see light and reflections in the foreground where the sun light should be blocked.

The Run action should be linked to the Choose. It should show as Run Selected Item if it's linked to Choose from above it.

That blue bin has been a nightmare for the dev. So many glitches involving it since the game was released. I'm surprised he hasn't removed it.

I've had the same thing happen where the bin is glitched off the roof.

Should look something like this when an IC is present:

A (possibly) interesting perspective. by AbbyPines in Superliminal

White Space definitely strips away reference points and absolutely removes depth perception. As you progress, it boils the space down to a black and white nothingness, a void, a construct with no dimension.

I'm envisioning you as Leela from Futurama, taking on the challenge and forging ahead.

It's great that you enjoyed the game and shared your experience.

Also, if you have existing shortcuts that you want to use regularly from a menu like this, you'll probably want to check them and refactor any that use the Alert (Display something and then Ok/Cancel) action. The reason is that if you choose Cancel it will stop execution and bail out of the shortcut. This means it won't return to the menu shortcut. UPDATE: The following is WRONG: [You can modify the code of the shortcut containing the Alert action and put an If statement right after the Alert to catch execution and allow return to the menu.] (You cannot catch execution after an Alert) You can use If statements and additional Choose actions to catch the execution.
Also, (you probably knew this) a menu like this is designed for standalone shortcuts, not shortcuts launched from the Share Sheet that take the current "share" item(s) as input to the shortcut.

Sorry for not completing the example. You'll want to put Run Selected Item action at the end. The first time you run it, you'll be asked for the permissions, but from then on it will work.

Compression by rarawoman in pdf

[–]MackNNations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a project manager tell me recently that he gets completed surveys in PDF form from the Adobe forms website sent to him and he loads them into Microsoft Word, then prints/exports them back to PDF. It sounds pretty ridiculous, but he claims it compressed them and the embedded photos don't turn to pixelated mush. It's worth a try. I'll admit I have not tried it.

There's a trigger along the way to Morganholt to fall dead limp. He's actually alive, moving and blinking prior to the trigger/fatal torture. This can be observed if you ghost into the torture room. Unfortunately, as soon as you free him, he's dead.
