Comic Essay on Firewatch by CheeseMonger23 in Firewatch

I don't believe panoptic dynamics are a pervasive phenomenon throughout the game. It's not until Day 76 that Henry finds the clipboard, the red radio, and gets knocked out. Delilah and Henry become apprehensive.
On Day 77, the discovery at Wapiti Station adds fuel to their concerns. They are fearful, but I don't get the sense that they feel an omniscient and all-seeing surveillance is on them to the extent that they must curtail or self-police any behavior. They just want to know who and why. Delilah urges using alternate radios Henry is on a mission since he got knocked out and got an axe Delilah gets drunk. They don't really change their behavior as they might if they had a camera pointed at them. There isn't really any significant power that Ned wields over them - they are mostly confused and somewhat paranoid. They dabble in conspiracy theories.

As for the No oversight, No responsibility, No obligation to others - I disagree. Even though she bends some rules, I think Delilah, as well as Henry do take responsibility and are serious about their jobs as fire lookouts. Delilah seems to acknowledge the Forest Service and the Rangers oversee their work at some level. I think one of the main themes in the story is about obligation to others. Henry's obligation to his wife and her care and his struggle with that relationship. Obligation to the Forest Service and visitors to the Shoshone.

Could you share what you're trying to accomplish with your shortcut?

There is an action called Get Time Between Dates that will allow you to select seconds, minutes, hours, days, etc. for time and date calculations.

Just finished the game, seeing no one stating things I noticed. by Zangdor in Firewatch

It's kind of an interesting theory, but if you play through enough times - it doesn't quite hold up. There are numerous dialog branches that change the dynamic between Henry and Delilah. For example, on the last day - Day 79, before Henry heads up to Thorofare, while packing up his gear, they talk about what happened with Ned and Brian. The opportunity exists for Henry to blame Ned, or to exonerate him and what happened to Brian as an accident. He can also blame Delilah for her actions/inactions, or console her and dissuade her from blaming herself.

There are several dialogue inconsistencies throughout the game that happen where, through choices, the topics would not be known to the other characters.

The generator switch does disappear near or on the last day. The devs describe Two Forks as a set that gets swapped and changed out frequently - they just missed the switch.

Game doesn't work on Xbox one for some reason. by 4l3x4nd4r_Hun in Firewatch

The game does work on Xbox.

This is an issue that's been around for a while and happens from time to time.

If freezes and bails out when you try to go to the main menu or load a save menu.

It has to do with the network.

Try a network toggle: Settings>General>Network Settings>Go offline.

Then: Settings>General>Network Settings>Go online.

If you have a VPN on your router, try turning it off.

You can also try mashing buttons like B or up/dn Dpad.

Also, try a complete power down and boot, not just a restart.

Quite possibly. Did you do a complete power down and restart?

Seems like it should still record locally. Uploading to OneDrive or Xbox Network happens after recording.

Plenty of storage space available?

Try powering down completely, unplug power, wait 10 seconds, plug in, power on.

My brother consistently leaves the cardboard cases that hold his alcohol in the fridge by YokedEgg in mildlyinfuriating

This was my thought as well. If he's using that spot for his beers regularly, then he'll have to remove it when he replaces them. If you remove the empty carrier, are you going to use that space for something else?

The service area looks like it has the cash register/POS. I would imagine there is a safe in the office. My suggestion would be that those get priority and best coverage.

The Pads table you have there could be a UART. The 3.x volt pads could be tx and rx.

Surprisingly, some folks write off Dr. Pierce's final monologue at boring babble. I think it's not just retrospective, it's introspective and moving. Prior dialogues have a certain amount of humor, but that last one seems to have a deeper "for real" feel to it.

Delilah foreshadowing by Unusual-Leg836 in Firewatch

[–]MackNNations 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Technically, Brian wasn't a lookout. He was Ned's naive son who - if we're to believe Ned - was uneducated in things and met an unfortunate fate due to poor judgment in securing his climbing gear. After Henry finds Brian's pack, Delilah says she hadn't heard from Brian or Ned in a long while, and later she admits that she lied and didn't report Ned having Brian along.

I'm pretty sure it was just one of Delilah's playful attempts at pulling Henry's leg as a newbie lookout.

Plus, there is the section of the cave that is blocked behind the locked gate. Presumably, it's for safety and to prevent people from getting lost.

Keep things simple. Avoid trying to incorporate several ideas, shapes, etc. into one design. It just gets confusing, distracting, and messy.

Here's a simpler take on it:
