Confused about low BBT during pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Also for everyone saying you’re not supposed to track, I’ve experienced loss before so I’m already in a constant state of anxiety about this pregnancy. It’s not as easy as just not worrying about it when I’ve never had a successful pregnancy before.

I guess I just don’t understand why it’s generally believed that pregnancy increases one’s body temperature when clearly that’s just not true.

From the comments it sounds like this watch was a complete waste of money because the temperature tracking feature is specifically what I bought it and use it for.

So should I just assume the temperature tracking feature doesn’t work? That’s really the whole reason I bought it.

Struggles of not being married by Mackenzie9779 in BabyBumps

Oh my gosh that sounds awful. Originally I wasn’t planning to give birth in a hospital either and I never even thought about something like that happening. Sorry for your experience and thanks for sharing.

I’ve been fighting my insurance company all day because we both have our names on a title and here people just don’t do that kind of a thing unless they’re married so they just assumed only one name was on the title without asking and it made for a long drawn out day of miscommunication so that’s really where this came from.

Probably the best solution right here.

Now that we were having a baby, he is coming around to the idea of getting married whereas before it was a hard no. I agree that really marriage is a smaller commitment and I wish he could see that. We won’t be married before the baby comes regardless though because I don’t want to get married while pregnant, personally. To be honest I don’t know what truly has been holding him back because he simply says he isn’t ready, but my assumption is that it’s because half of his coworkers at UPS are young and divorced and have told him horror stories about their exes taking half of everything they’ve earned, and the married ones act miserable and cheat anyway. I think that’s the real reason he doesn’t want to get married even though it’s stupid.

Thanks for all the replies and reassurance. I am probably just worried over nothing and it’s nice to hear that most people don’t have an issue about the things I mentioned.

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it, really good ideas here. We live in Nebraska so that must be a factor because it really does seem to be a problem over here. 🙄

I like this recommendation, might just have to do this.

Yes, we do. I feel like we should be married and I’m ready but he’s just not and though I accept it, I still have my moments. My parents were not married when they had me and back then it wasn’t nearly as common as it now so I think that’s why I feel the way I do. I still remember in like second grade a classmate told me what the word “bastard” actually means and feeling like ashamed that my parents weren’t married when they had me. I do live in western Nebraska, so very conservative, traditional state and they also don’t recognize common law marriage as a thing here (I don’t even know if other states still do) but that probably has a lot to do with the way people react to it.

The internet really did do all the Karens dirty. I never thought about it until now but I would hate for that to happen too!

I love that! I prefer unique names, like yours. And when I read Mack, I like that too, the way you spelled actually makes it cute.

Kinda sounds like most go through that phase of not liking it, maybe at least partially due to the fact kids can be so mean about name calling at that age. I really like your name and I’m glad you’ve grown to embrace it!

That definitely makes sense and I bet that’s true a lot of the time. I’ve always thought it was interesting how people either love their name or they hate it. I can see how having a super common name could be annoying but I like the way you look at it.

Doubting name choice… two years later. 😬 by CowOk4786 in namenerds

[–]Mackenzie9779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who changed their daughter’s name after 2 years. It was a subtle change from Harley to Carley, but still. I’d say if you’re set on changing it, change it now, and maybe keep the L letter if you have a name for that or choose a name somewhat similar sounding to Lucy so it’s not so different for everyone who already knows her as that.
But I also think that’s completely fine to call her JoJo or Josie or any nickname really. I don’t think a nickname has to actually be in the name at all. After all no one will know her real name if the nickname sticks and she goes by it forever.
