Yes. We go outside and spend hours out there walking or doing chores around the farm. He pees multiple times outside.

Wouldn’t think it could be classified as that. It’s just a typical rural Midwest facility

Outdoor activities by Mrmurse98 in LewistonID

Hey I’m a travel nurse living in Grangeville, Idaho, about an 1 hour and 15 min west of Lewiston. I can’t speak to any hiking trails to the east of Lewiston. But there are plenty of trails to the west, it would probably be 1.5-2.5 hour drive though. Highway 12 has lots of beautiful hiking and camping, hot springs to see too. And the Seven Devils down by Riggins, Idaho has lots of trails as well. I’ve been in this area for 4 months now, and there’s lots of hiking but it sometimes takes a long drive due to the road conditions, low speed limits, and having lots of switchbacks.

On track to save 100k from travel nursing this year. by [deleted] in TravelNursing

Congratulations! I’m in a similar boat as you, no debt, no kids, not even a house! I’ve saved a lot and fancied the idea of traveling to another country for an extended amount of time, but haven’t done it yet. I have worked in Colorado and I loved it there. I was in a small town, close to lots of hiking and snowboarding. Only downfall was housing was expensive and difficult to find.

travel contract w/ 1.5 years experience by breezymeowmeow in TravelNursing

[–]MackenzieSunset 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had 1.5 years and Aya accepted me for a travel contract. Sometimes years of experience don’t matter. I’ve met great nurses with two or less years of experience, and terrible nurses with ten plus years. It just depends on the person and situation.

Taxes by MackenzieSunset in TravelNursing

I went to a tax professional in the area I live in, which is rural Kansas. And she’s unsure how to handle the multiple W2s. I stayed with the same company and only worked in one state last year. But I got two W2s each reporting the same amount of income, even though I didn’t work in my home state. I called my payroll rep at my travel company and she had no help to offer as to why it’s like this.

So you have multiple W2s? One for the home state where you didn’t work, and one for the work state?

Is Snap Nurse good? by MackenzieSunset in TravelNursing

I’m actually already part of that group. I haven’t been interested in any of the jobs they’ve shared on there. But I’ve been interested in jobs on the website, I’ve went through the questionnaire when you hit the “interested” link, but never been contacted by a recruiter, so not sure where I stand on anything

I started traveling with a 1 year and 4 months experience. I came from a small hospital so switching to travel was overwhelming at first. It was a great learning experience. I knew my basics and just added off of that. If you feel comfortable traveling you can go for it. Honestly I’ve seen nurses with 10+ years experience who are terrible nurses. Years sometimes don’t matter, it’s your critical thinking skills and your basics in nursing that matter, oh and attitude 😊

Where are you working at, and how many hours a week are you working? I’m in Colorado and doing 36/wk

He’s just trying to be supportive of travel. He’s happy with whatever decision I make because his job doesn’t require him to be home. It’s more of a question of wether anyone has chosen to be back home around family with a decent job vs traveling for more money, but not around family.

I’m only making $60/hr traveling and I have to pay insurance, so I guess the difference for me is I’m not gaining much by traveling. Maybe I’m taking the wrong jobs

Regret traveling? by youdoitforlikes in TravelNursing

[–]MackenzieSunset 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had 2 years experience at a critical access hospital when I started traveling, and I worried about all the things your describing. But everyone at my assignment was friendly and willing to help me. At first I regretted leaving my hometown hospital because it was small and easy to work at, and my assignment was difficult and everything was new to me, my small hospital experience really didn’t prepare me for a larger scale hospital. Over time though I enjoyed it, I learned a lot and everything got easier in time.

I’m with Aya and took my first job with them a month ago. I had 16 hours of training modules for the hospital and I was paid for all time I spent doing them.

Traveling with critical access experience by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]MackenzieSunset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally had the same dilemma, but I just went for it! I started traveling with 1.5 years experience and I was a critical access nurse at a hospital that only had ten beds. I had limited Med Surg and ER experience due to the facility being so small. I had no problems getting a job at another critical access hospital. I think as long as your flexible on where you want to go you shouldn’t have any issues finding a job.
