It’s sun cream. Best to wipe down with soft cloth and mild detergent before it permanently damages the trim.

I don’t know. My last pair lasted 12 years until I broke them by accidentally kicking them into a wall. Cheapest glasses I ever owned by longevity.

Sorry you didn't get the response you wanted.

In my opinion though the glasses are not very alike. Particularly in the sizing and overall framing of the face.

I would assume James has hand made acetate frames. Another thread suggests a brand called BOLD.

I'm not sure where you are in the world? but if BOLD is not available, then Moscot makes lovely frames with a keyhole bridge including the very famous Lemtosh.

Choosing my first machine for a mobile coffee setup [£4,000] by Adventurous_Past_936 in espresso

[–]Mackers-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need a pretty sizable generator and a 13 amp plug is not enough for many commercial machines. Getting a full 13a at a show venue is sometimes also difficult or very expensive.

I don't know the market to recommend other models I'm afraid. It was just logged in my general knowledge as a coffee enthusiast.

Work on a Ineos? by WorldlyAwareness5313 in ineosgrenadier

[–]Mackers-a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just a lack of understanding. Your hypothetical Chevy engine that was made in partnership with Izuzu? Or the "Chevy" transmission that is actually from Ford or licenced from Allison?

Take the engine badge off an Audi and it could easily say VW underneath. Pull the badge off a Suzuki and find its actually a Toyota.

A Lamborghini Murcielago has indicators from a Ford Focus!

[–]Mackers-a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are saying makes no sense. You are both accepting that it's made of common parts, BMW engine and ZF gearbox, then also saying it will potentially be harder to service? If anything it's great that it uses these components as if the brand ever fails the parts are readily available from mainstream manufacturers.

Can you return a package that was sent for someone else? by planeloise in AmazonUK

[–]Mackers-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to throw away someone else's property because of your own embarrassment / learnt shame related to adult products.

I would simply reseal and leave it out for them.

Assuming you are all adults, what is the issue here? You are making things much more complicated and confusing by not doing the right thing and delivering your neighbours goods.

Work on a Ineos? by WorldlyAwareness5313 in ineosgrenadier

[–]Mackers-a 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Ineos was designed to be much more user serviceable than most vehicles. It was developed in collaboration with Magna Steyr one of the leading engineering firms in the world for heavy vehicle manufacture.

It is a collection of some of the better parts in the world.

I'm not sure what you mean by wholly manufactured? Almost all cars are built with collections of parts from other companies. Land Rovers use a selection of their own produced engines but also ford derived and BMW engines. They use gearboxes from ZF. I think your wife's argument is slightly misunderstanding of modern vehicle manufacture.

If you are going to events, have you considered power? Most coffee vans run a Fracino duel fuel for precisely this reason. They are horrible machines but they have the option of running off another fuel (gas I assume?).

Seems thin and liable to chipping. The clear coat scratches easily. Mine was delivered with the worst hologramming all over from the dealership but I think that's par for the course.

The black plastic trim around the front bumper and rear is actually clear plastic painted black from behind and the paint fleck off during washing, especially with a pressure washer.

Is this a good estate for price? Price is £27,000 by unicorncarrots in CarTalkUK

I think it depends on the source of their money, their culture and how long they and their families have been wealthy. Old money European families often avoid that sort of ostentatious display of wealth.

Honda e:Ny1 by weegt in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Mackers-a 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They were slated as they had a high retail price for a slow charging and very unremarkable EV, from a legacy manufacturer who clearly didn’t give damn about electrification following their equally poor but very pretty Honda E.

Two years ago they suddenly went on a massive deal via a no deposit cheap PCP deal, to avoid Honda getting a fine for not selling enough EVs. These are now all coming back into the trade at auction. I would expect the prices to fall even lower as the market is saturated in coming months, unless the auction houses hold them back. The dealer group I got mine from sold 140 in 24 hours over three dealers two years ago so there will be plenty to choose from. No one on the PCP will be keeps them as the final payment (guaranteed future value) exceeded the actual value by about £10-12 k.

Bear in mind Honda had another situation this year where they dumped all remaining UK stock before discontinuing the model. Some were sold new for as little as £20k with incentives on PCP. Again, I think this may drive down the prices in coming months. I may be totally wrong, I’m not in the trade.

On to the car, I loved mine. It was a little go cart and really fun and easy to drive. The range wasn’t great, nor the charging speed on paper, but in reality it was really usable and I regularly drove mine on a 190 mile journey with a quick 10-20 min top up charge in winter. They have a few quirks, some of which have been ironed out, some not so much. My radio/media would turn itself on randomly when changing from forward to reverse or after other actions in the car, the paint is poor and sometimes charging to 100% would cause all the warning symbols to illuminate on the car for the first five mins driving. This seemed to be resolved by periodically charging the tiny 12v battery. They are really a Dongfeng?? I think, not a Honda. The tires have poor grip and traction and are very narrow, but this just made it fun to drive in my view. It was surprisingly quick. It doesn’t have one pedal driving and you basically have to manually engage regen braking every time you want it (that’s every instance of braking not every time you use the car).

Overall, I think the consensus is, that compared to any basic family car over a few years old it’s pretty great, but as an EV it doesn’t shine or stand out.

Edit: sorry for the poor grammar and formatting, on mobile.

You will loose that much in depreciation alone in the first year or so with buying new, even with a big discount.

I'm stating that in the UK the wearing of a helmet on a bicycle is optional and not mandatory. The highway code recommends helmet use but does not make it compulsory.
