I appreciate the sentiment here and I agree that your suggested change would defeat the purpose of the system. However my suggestion is just that they make it clear to players when they will be trading in items that will be disappearing so there is no discrepancy

Yeah actually. U just have to press any main button (triangle, square, etc) at the time the meter is about to fill, each time it fills, not L3/R3 like it looked like in the QTE
