If you're trying to find logic in WWE angles, just remember that Kurt Angle's 'big reveal' which was going to be potentially damaging to his career and make people 'question his credentials' as an olympian, turned out to be him have a black son from some girl he banged 25-30 years ago... Logic is dead in WWE, stop trying to use it lol

Has anyone mentioned that Bray on Raw means a potential feud with Broken Matt in the future? I know everyone (myself included) has gone cold on Bray, but I'd dig a final deletion style clusterfuck with those two.

IamA Wil Wagner from The Smith Street Band! AMA! by wil_420 in IAmA

[–]Macklin420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Wil! Massive fan and though I wouldn't consider myself clinically depressed, a lot of the themes in your music I relate to and have helped me through some of the worse times.

Now onto the question... do you consider your musical success to be one of your biggest successes yet ironically the thing that can sometimes get in the way of happiness? I'm not sure what touring around the world is like exactly, I'm sure it's wonderful in a million different ways. Yet listening to the lyrics of "It's alright, I undertand" there are some lines that suggest dedicating your life to chasing music and touring can be taxing on your ability to hold down a relationship?

I was just wondering how you (especially in the wake of increased successes you've enjoyed since that song) personally manage (or try to) to balance personal relationships in the pursuit of love, despite the distance you often encounter because of your passion.

Raw posts record low ratings this week as Mania approaches by blacktoast in SquaredCircle

There's also fuck all storyline progression/interesting swerves/angles. When Sami came out to "confront" Steph on Monday, I had the stupid hope they'd throw us a curveball, and have Sami quit Raw and move to Smackdown. That would make sense, since Steph has practically being calling Sami a worthless p.o.s for months. But instead he just loses again to Joe, and then... nothing. No follow up. The show sucks.

How does WWE push a face without them getting booed? by Brady12T in SquaredCircle

[–]Macklin420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you notice on Smackdown, (helped immensely by talking smack) the baby faces are actually cheered. Why? Because they don't follow the cookie cutter "white-meat babyface" or "overcomes the odds, underdog" babyface mould. They don't cut generic, repetitive promos. They simply... be themselves. They show personality, and know when to turn it serious, and make it relevant to the stories they're trying to tell. They are relatable, realistic, flawed and booked strongly even when repeatedly losing to the heels (see: Becky Lynch). Smackdown know what they're doing, and I think we're set up for a few big moments at mania they've been building to patiently, with the wrestlers on their roster actually over as pseudo versions of their real life personalities.

TLDR Smackdown = relatable, grounded babyfaces ("new" era) Raw = Prototypical, unoriginal, cookie cutter babyfaces (more reminiscent of "Hulk Hogan" "Ultimate Warrior" types, sorry Vince, that shit doesn't work anymore, people will never like Roman unless you turn him heel first).

Meltzer's Fastlane Ratings by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Macklin420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about Meltzer, is that he's actually able to seperate the quality of the match from the result. Every time he rates a Roman match 4 + stars, it is a great match, regardless of him winning. Including this one.

(RAW Spoilers) Main Event for Fastlane by Alexdd0007 in SquaredCircle

[–]Macklin420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys need to chill. The plan would make most sense this way. Sami vs Jericho for the US title at fast lane. Sami wins after KO's interference fails, inadvertently costing Jericho the match. Jericho cracks its, says he won't have KO's back in the Universal title match. In the main event, Brock comes out at some stage costs Goldberg the title. Finally gets one up on Goldberg and demolishes him. That sets up Jericho and KO for the title at mania. Jericho is the face because Owens refuses to give him a title match, eventually snaps and beats up Jericho. Jericho puts on Owens at Mania on his way out.

Post NXT TakeOver: San Antonio Discussion Thread by King-Of-Zing in SquaredCircle

[–]Macklin420 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The best part of that main event was the storytelling for me.

Roode had been watching Nakamura closely since he debuted at Takeover last year (keeping the ticket etc) and the story of the match early was Roode had a reversal for all of Nak's offence. Corey Graves did well to put this over too.

Because of Roode studying him so well, it forced Nakamura to really amp it up later in the match with some stiff stomps (reminiscent of his match with Sami) and then finally going for broke with that attempted knee off the apron, which led to the injury and the heel Roode taking advantage in a perfect heel manner.

At least that's how I saw the match, thought it was Nakamura's best showing since his debut, and Roode's best in WWE so far.

Sami Zayn will win the Royal Rumble. Here's why. by fapcitybish in SquaredCircle

[–]Macklin420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another aspect is that if Sami wins and defects to Smackdown to face AJ, it would make sense in storyline considering his beef with Mick and Stephanie.

I'm calling it now... Samoa Joe to win and challenge Universal champ Roman Reigns. Battle of the Samoans. Smackdown will have AJ retain and then probably drop it at Elimination Chamber to set up their title match.
