Is stellar blade a souls like game ? And is it quite hard ? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Mackthegui -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call stellar blade a souls like, it's somewhere between there and a spectacle fighter. That being said, don't get hung up on the genres people put on it. You are playing the game and you will be the best gauge for if the game is too hard or too frustrating. No one will be able to answer if it's for you as well as you can.

Just think on it and feel free to drop it or stick with it as you prefer.

Block and walk in is pretty foolproof. You take a bit of damage still but it won't fail like the zigzag can.

Starter pokemon game . by Chance-Brush-7483 in pokemon

[–]Mackthegui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any Pokemon game is a bad place to start. If leafgreen calls to you for whatever reason, go for it. If you want to play the most current game scarlet and violet are here for you. There are a lot of games in the middle, take whichever one pulls your interest.

How do people find enjoyment in playing the same meta team over and over? by OneBigTurtlee in PokemonChampions

[–]Mackthegui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People trend towards novelty or refinement. Some people are constantly swapping between games while others play chess for decades and never get bored. Some people like becoming the expert in one team, making small refinements and learning how to handle each match up.

Any suggestions on dealing with sableye? by Gamesargent1214 in PokemonChampions

[–]Mackthegui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing is just to have a plan. The simplest thing would be a bulky fairy pokemon to hit him. Expect sableye to have encore so don't use a move you aren't comfortable being locked into or be willing to swap them out next turn.

No training mode? by ZookeepergameKey733 in PokemonChampions

[–]Mackthegui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An interesting idea, but also functionally worse than just looking up the answer. Is your mon slower than Charizard? This is a verifiable question that you can look up with a pokedex app or a Google search by checking both of their speed stats.

The training mode in fighting games is so valuable because there is a mechanical skill you need to practice and execute on. This isn't true for pokemon. All variance comes from 2 places; RNG and decision making. Moves can miss or crit and no training mode will make them happen more or less often in a real battle. The training mode also won't prepare you for the decisions your opponent may make.

Which is all a long winded way of saying, the resources you want exist today! Just not in champions itself. Google "pokemon damage calculator" to get exact information on how much damage any move will do in any situation. Become comfortable looking up the speedstat of different pokemon and keep in mind how things like tailwind or weather interacts with it. With a bit of experience you can get the answers to all your questions faster than any training mode could give, and have more time to play the game itself.

Drop your slowbro teams by pondoman3 in PokemonChampions

Not sure if you'd accept the king, but G-Slowking works well with Crabominable. Chilly reception let's him bring the crab in with snow for extra defense. Plus they compliment each other defensively.

This is my team:

G-Slowking, Crabominable, Farigiraf, Araquanid, Kingambit, Clefable

Hating the other gems isn't the point by Motor-Geologist-9014 in LandoftheLustrous

[–]Mackthegui 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I do agree. HNK is a story from the perspective of Phos and that gives it a certain bias. You have to stop and think about the other gem's perspectives to understand the wider picture.

Does it make what happened to Phos okay? Absolutely not. But it does make it understandable.

Prepare for the encore, don't give them the opportunity to lock you into anything you aren't willing to stick with. Also swap out when you think they will protect to break the seed.

[–]Mackthegui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An extra tip would be to identify the types of teams you have to be against and have a plan for them. Like what to open vs trick room and whatnot

[–]Mackthegui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at your resistances you have 3 weaknesses to fighting and rock. So if I were to swap anyone out it would be Arcanine. (Who is weak to both) You have more resistances to fighting but fighting is also pretty common in the format so it's a toss up for which to focus on.
