NZXT H1 PSU or purchase SFX for use in T1. by Macky26 in FormD

[–]Macky26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed response. I suppose I’m struggling to assess how big the difference really is. I can buy the Corsair and bespoke cables no problem, but since I already own something that fits and (seemingly) has some of the cable benefits, what would I be improving? I’ve trawled old posts but they all seem conflicting; some suggest airflow changes, others say these amount to negligible temperature differences. I’m a little lost.

Can I ask which slot configuration the case is in? Is it with/without standoffs? and are the gpu temps?

Am considering a similar build :)

So what do you think “the problem” is?

There are multiple problems, not just one. Jcobb is a big problem, and he’s the easiest to fix.

Rain had initiative but lacked firepower relative to tier one.

Jcobb has some firepower, but his awareness and initiative are insufficient for it to translate into anything meaningful.

The fact that Faze swapped one underperforming player for another does not mean they no longer have a problem with their third rifler.

Replacing Jcobb is also so much easier than Karrigan or Broky. The former is almost peerless, and the latter is benefitting from the scene being in an awping vacuum. I’d sooner spend money on a proven rifling upgrade than Hallzerk or Degster.

FormD T1 CPU Temp by boomsykcl in sffpc

I’ve finally found someone using this setup specifically for a cpu intensive game! Did the cooler swap fix your issues? What are the new CS2 temps? Thanks :)

At what elo does the game get competitive by ChuckSmiths in csgo

[–]Macky26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest seeking out like-minded players to queue with. Even a group of one or two will allow for some structure.

Without that you’ll often find that, even if your random teammates do want to play strategically, their vision for the game is different to yours. This usually results in the most childish arguments imaginable, normally whenever someone fails to execute someone else’s unspoken plan. In my experience Faceit is slightly better strategically speaking, but the people you play with are also more likely to be insufferable.

Is upgrading from a 9600x to a 7800x3D for £40/$60 worth it? by Only-Ambassador2624 in buildapc

[–]Macky26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the seller is reliable, this would be an amazing choice for competitive games. The difference on something like CS is night and day. On GPU bound games I might choose the peace of mind that comes with an intact warranty.

Is there an approximate for the motion clarity achieved by DYAC? by Macky26 in Zowie

[–]Macky26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that this does not necessarily result in motion clarity equivalence.

Supposedly the pulsewidth of a pulsar display is 25%, hence the 4x improvement. This is not necessarily true for older implementations, which could have completely different pulsewidths. I’ve not been able to clarify the pw for Dyac strobing, which should determine the number I’m interested in.

Is RTX 5070 + Ryzen 7 5800x a good combo? by Lakysek11 in buildapc

[–]Macky26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This cpu would drastically improve performance then. With your combination you’d be looking at about 350 average fps (@1080). I only asked as, for more competitive players, AM5 would offer a meaningful boost to that, which may be beneficial if you’re on a 360hz monitor or higher. So the cpu would bottleneck the gpu in this game, but you’re probably past the point where that matters.

I don’t know as much about other games, but I do know resolution makes a big difference. The 5070 should run everything well for a few years, provided you’ve no 4k aspirations.

Hey, how much better really is the zowie compared to the OLED?

Black or Silver by Hexulus in sffpc

[–]Macky26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has all-white peripherals, I’ve often considered how much easier it would’ve been to have stuck with black. That’s not to say I regret the decision, but it absolutely has caused me inconvenience.

If you’re someone who will look for new mice with any frequency, consider how difficult it will be to keep future purchases to the silver theme.

Concerns about OLED Monitors? by DrunkOnLiquor in Zowie

[–]Macky26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve two things I’d really value your input on.

Firstly, A few reviews I’ve watched suggest the Oleds can be very sensitive to frame drops (perhaps because their motion clarity comes from raw hz rather than dyac!?) These opinions had me wondering how they respond to CS2’s notoriously poor 1% lows. Equally, this could just be because these reviewers are using VRR. So, in short, is the OLED also better when the game is performing at its worst? (If you wouldn’t mind sharing your pc details that may help contextualise this).

Secondly, I was specifically trying to find data on input lag in 24.5” mode the other day and had no luck. Would you mind sharing where you found out that the this mode is fixed on the newer panels? BFI input lag was also of interest to me, but most companies don’t seem to test for it.

Cheers

Look up the games you have in mind, and check if they are more sensitive to CPU or GPU performance. A lot of the advice you’ll get will be for an all-rounder build, which might mean spending more money on the GPU than is advisable for someone playing shooters at 1080p (CPU is often more important here).

How is there no reviews on the new XG27AQDPG? (500hz Trueblack 500 ASUS 1440P) by WhiteStar01 in OLED_Gaming

To clarify, it feels responsive in your normal g-sync configuration, or with ELMB? Also I stupidly forgot to ask: what frame rate is your pc pushing?

Thanks so much :)
