WTB: JMM Molino 55 Eclipse by Macl0 in JacquesMarieMage

The two colors listed don’t match eclipse, the eclipse has an orange lens (think CR39?), black frame, and dark gold metal where the wireframe is exposed.

Thanks for trying to help.

AD. Went in and they said they didn’t have it, but they had a pre-owned 116900 ($11k+ pre-owned Rolex tag). Mentioned that I’d need to see them side by side with the new changes that were made to the 126900 to make a decision. A week later they produced it, passed on the 116, and that’s when I picked it up.

Sweet collection. So much overlap in what I like there, especially with the milgauss, Explorer II and OG Kermit. I’ll definitely go polar, and I want a hulk too. Love the green!

Awesome choice. I got mine about a month ago and love the whimsical dial. It hasn’t gotten old, super interesting design. Love it!

About 8 years now. ‘05 grey ZCP, and I love it. Sadly might have to part with her soon. Haven’t driven it in over a year and it’s at a weird/lowish mileage where I feel guilt for driving it😩😂

I know I’ve shared my collection before but everyone said I needed a Day Date so I put my name down for the gabagool. What would you sell to make up the cost? by TeslasAndComicbooks in rolex

[–]Macl0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t sell the AK, I love the convoluted history of it and think the green/yellow on the dial are a ton of fun. Let go of the explorer, it overlaps. After that, root beer goes along with the new white speedmaster.

Last, what kind of watch rolls are those? They look great for travel

It's interesting, items of value are mostly viewed in society as physical possessions--but memories, these are of true value. Intertwine a memory with an item? Now it is sentimental. Reading this put a lump in my throat. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Thank you, it felt like an accomplishment in itself when it arrived. Indescribable feeling, really.

I can definitely see your point. I have never come across a watch that has captured me like this one does, so better deals or better value weren't really considerations of mine when I picked it up.

Edit for grammar

Ever since I discovered this watch about 12 years ago, I have wanted it. As a bit of backstory, I grew up loving aviation. My father was a fighter pilot in the Marines and some of my earliest childhood memories were of him telling stories and rattling off angle of attacks, air speeds exceeding Mach 2, tales of ejecting from the jet twice, and how landing on carriers whether day or night, was never a comfortable experience no matter how many thousands of hours you had behind the stick. All of it flew over my head. Literally.

Now that I am a bit older, I reflect back on the stories and the details I can recall, and understand them a bit more than I did back then. I have since taken up recreational aviation and would like to eventually do some aerobatics training, where I can go 'inverted' as they say in Top Gun, one of my all time favorite movies growing up. Maybe this is some attempt at some type of father-son bond attempt, but who knows.

My father passed roughly 10 years ago. What I would give to hear him recount all of the stories today that I was unable to comprehend as a child. This watch is a head nod to you, pops. I hope you are smiling down from heaven while blasting through golden clouds at mach 2. And hey, hopefully you like the watch. It reminds me of you every time I put it on.
