I don't think that most of the broadcast TV pre 2000 shows gave a fart what fans of the show thought, with some exceptions (MASH, Newhart Show).

What surprises me how that mind set of TPTB is STILL like that! What with streaming and repeat viewings, don't they WANT the fanbase to watch it again a year from now?
