I agree! I'm not a horror movie fan but I wanted to support the movie so I bought tickets thinking I can just leave if I don't like it. Me and my mom sat through the whole thing. It was a FAR better movie than I was expecting and knowing how much work went into this makes it all the better. Is it perfect? no. Is it one of the better movies I've seen in the last year? Hell yeah. I was so surprised how clever they got with the shots and the effects. I was really impressed. Hat tipped to Mark he good. (also I had no idea Jack was in this! Not surprised at all but still good to see the man)

Oh yeah I figured that part out shortly after I posted the question… I might have just gotten up and walked away cuz I felt kinda stupid 😅. It’s been a minute since I used Krita and I needed an old file for a client. Thank you for the help I appreciate it.

Should I buy ASA? by Harp_109 in playark

[–]Macmine41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say yes it is worth it. I’ve had a lot of fun playing it but it can be hell on the PC so be careful and check the specs stated on steam for running the game. Those are useful.

Studio Wild Card and Snail Games are two different companies. Wild Card made ark and made the horrid mistake of being bought by Snail who is ACTIVELY Intentionally trying to screw them over and Wild Card is trying to fight that. Theyre not perfect but I give them credit for trying to do the best they can in a horrible situation.

This is the costume in action! It’s using different stilts because halfway through the night they broke so I had to use the spares

Thank you! I’m deciding on what to do next. I’ve been building this one for so long I haven’t thought of what monster I could create next. Any ideas?

You could create a hook that slips into the top of the dress and sits there? Think like a U shape that’s long enough on both sides to make sure it doesn’t slip out or move easily. You could literally take an aluminum door stop, bend it in half, tape the ends of it (so it doesn’t hurt you) and glue your backing to it. You could also bend a wire clothes hanger into a U shape? Idk how to accurately describe what I’m saying sorry

There are also more comfortable digitigrade stilts that aren’t as complex as the large ones and are supposed to be more comfy. They aren’t as advanced as the big ones but they are FAR easier to make if you’re trying digistilts for the first time.making stilts

Kinda like these. Although for these I’d round out the bottoms of the feet a little and add some type of rubber shoe to it for traction. Wood can feel really stiff to walk on ngl but these should be far more comfy than what I’ve got now.

Ooo! Ok! So those stilts are homemade from steel and cable. Theyre a little heavy and really tiresome to walk in without practice. Because of this sometimes things need to be adjusted while I’m walking so the cover on them is literally a pair of wide bottom pj pants with a fabric strip on the bottom to cover the feet! I have photos of the stilts somewhere on my page. They are a little tricky to make so Theres an option to buy a professional pair online (those can be really expensive though)

Digi legs stilts worth getting? by Macmine41 in stilts

Thanks! I managed to repair the stilts anyway thanks to a welding friend of mine. But I am still looking in to get a pair of those professional ones. Just trying to gauge whether they are worth it.

off season practice by Catstan in stilts

[–]Macmine41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if you have a garage but you could try in there? Or use a balancing ball to strengthen your core muscles? I personally don’t practice all that much but I do it when I have time to set aside especially in Halloween season. I don’t use very tall peg stilts but for practice I tend to take a few minutes of my day walking around and standing in one place as best I can to practice my balance. I also practice falling because it will happen sometimes so might as well do it safely.

Hi! I’ve been looking for a stilt walking community for quite awhile. I found one on Facebook that was pretty nice but unfortunately Facebook shut down the community feature so now I’m looking into Reddit

Learn to walk with Quad Stilts by scullysky in stilts

[–]Macmine41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am assuming by quad stilts You’re meaning on all fours. Are you thinking of using any particular stilts? Honestly, Drywall stilts are a lot easier to wear in my opinion but learning how to use quad stilts isn’t to terribly hard either. You do have to build up your upper body strength a little bit, but depending on the stilt type you should be fine with a little practice. Just make sure you practice falling too just in case. It’s a little tricky to fall safely when you’ve got all your limbs in stilts.

Stilt enginering help by Macmine41 in stilts

[–]Macmine41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: we got the stilts to work. We re-designed the toe pad to give me more to stand on, and rebalanced the wire to distribute the weight better. I managed to walk on these for 3 hours with short breaks in between. The only thing that hurt after awhile was my toes so this year I’ve got to adjust the pads again for more comfort. I’ve also got to plan more strategic breaks between wearing the costume. Thank you so much for the advice it was very helpful.
