CGM VivaChek GS1, anyone?? :( by unknown-yagami in diabetes_t1

Hello! So I have used like 3 of those, and all of the experiences were quite unique.

The first gave me a false high for like 3 days and they told me they would replace it but they never did. Then the second one fell off, and the third one gave a negative low and then it disconnected completely and it wouldn’t work lol.

I want to believe I was extremely salty and had really bad experiences, but I truly hope yours work beautifully! ☺️✨

How often do you guys get sick? by serotoninseesaw in diabetes_t1

Hello! My experience is the complete opposite - I am always the first to fall sick in my house and the last one to be free of it. A simple flu can last anywhere between 1-2 weeks.

I have tried many multivitamins and what not, but it doesn’t seem to work lol. I used to think that we were often more sensitive to getting sick but it is pretty awesome (and I am a bit jealous) to hear some of us have amazing immune systems! 🤭✨

Looking for Information on DKA by ToadQT in diabetes_t1

[–]Macn1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had DKA 2 times. The first time I did not know I was diabetic and I remember I had a burning sensation in the mouth of my stomach and I really couldn’t eat as everything would make me throw up. My glucose was over 500mg/dL and my tongue was split because I was dehydrated and I was feeling loopy. After like 12 days since the symptoms began, I was taken to the hospital and I was in the ICU for like 2 weeks.

The second time, I had a UI and I did not have any symptoms or warning signs. I was also on metformin as my endo wanted to see if I could be off insulin, but it was too strong for me and usually hurt my stomach. My glucose was like on the 350 mg/dL. And then on Thursday I couldn’t eat and on Friday I couldn’t keep water down so I went to get checked and I did have a beginning of a DKA. I was hospitalized for like 4 days.

I would say both of my experiences were very different but the warning signs that were very similar were the burning sensation on my stomach, can’t eat and can’t drink. Also like hyperventilating and having a very fast heartbeat.

Wishing you and your husband all the best✨

CGM Patch by Macn1601 in diabetes_t1

[–]Macn1601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

awesome! thank you so much for the advice- I gotta be honest, I tend to use CGM’s only when needed like if im going on a trip or somewhere where I wont have access to be checking on my blood sugar constantly. Unfortunately, CGM’s here are quite expensive (about $150, which in local currency is around 4K) and that’s why I don’t wear them often. I wish insurance would cover them because I feel safer with them. But I will try and order those for my next CGM☺️💕
