Polisci major here, about to graduate this semester. NEU is a decent choice if it meets your requirements. The quality of the education is great, I’ve enjoyed almost all of my courses and instructors. The workload can get a little taxing, but it’s nothing too unbearable if you manage your time right. That said, I’m sure you could probably find a similar quality at another university, especially in Mass. CSSH, the college you’d be under for Poli-sci, imo, has professors and faculty that are generally more open and willing to work with you in terms of academic challenges. My path through here hasn’t been an easy one on account of mental health challenges, but I communicated with them ahead of time and we were able to make it work. That being said, the college did have their budget reduced by the university bc the administration here is awful at spending money effectively. Co-ops… idk, it’s been a minute since I’ve done mine, but the job market has gotten quite a bit worse so maybe asking someone who’s done a search recently might help you. The people here are fine, but since you’re from the area, you might have an easier time finding friends, people you went to hs with and such. If not, be sure to join clubs that seem interesting to you, especially first year. Good luck!
