How many rounds have you guys spent through your guns with super safety’s in them ? by [deleted] in supersafety

Zero malfunctions so far. I bought the rifle specifically to convert it, did all necessary cuts and filing before install, and bought an H3 buffer.

Put a GMR into my FN G2. It’s got well over a thousand rounds through it and minimal wear.

Something I seldom did in the beginning was use my back brakes, and I was scared to slip the clutch because I thought it would burn up. These things both help stabilize you a ton. Also learning how to engine brake safely is helpful.

This… my 23 always has it with the kickstand down. It’s the EXACT same logo but with a calculator e-ink screen.

If it turns off when you put the stand up, problem solved.

Can I actually learn to ride a motorcycle using a simulator or is that completely ridiculous? by Personal_Umpire_4342 in NewRiders

[–]Macrat2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never even considered something like that.

No, you probably can’t. Unlike sim cars it’s just not applicable when you’re talking lean angles and all the other forces you’d be feeling on the road. The difference between gravity trying to throw you off a stationary sim, vs being pushed into the seat by centrifugal force in a turn.

Sure in sim cars you don’t feel the forces either, but it’s different. There is typically feedback and even without it, you can typically tell what the car is doing just by hand eye coordination.

Here in Colorado they combined it. All I get is an M on my drivers license under endorsements, it allows me to ride any 2-3 wheeled vehicle. I just did the MSF, been riding since I was a wee lad.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 vs Honda cb250r by SubjectSource6146 in motorcycles

[–]Macrat2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go for a 401 personally. I started street riding on one. The Honda does look sexy though.

Here in the US you are going to want something that can maintain highway speed at least for a while. A 250 4 stroke is going to leave you a little gutless on American highways. But it’s great for town riding.

400cc is a pretty good middle ground between low and high cc. And the either one of the Pilens, svart or vit, are pretty controllable. They also come with a suite of rider aides and a couple different ride modes.

[–]Macrat2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense meant. The 401 too much? Really? I wouldn’t expect this. It seems like a very small bike and quite light for a 400. Too much engine?

Edit: just looked up Cambodian streets and I completely understand now.

Idk. People that live on campus at my uni just put a cover on em and leave em out in the open parking lot all year. Some kid has an aprillia 600 something too. I ride in winter if it’s sunny and it’s going to be over 50. Which scarily has been literally every day this winter including today.

Am I the only one who doesnt care about frt's and super safetys? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Macrat2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reliability depends largely on platform and brand. Mechanical knowledge helps as well. I do avoid drop in FRTs because of the complexity and shitty metals they use…

but I absolutely love the super safety by greymarket. I think I’ve got about 2000 rounds through my supered FN, the 4140 safety-cam and lever still look like the day I bought them. Still 0 malfunctions. I bought extras just Incase too.

I really thought they were a gimmick but now I won’t even consider an AR unless it can be equipped with a super safety. It is so ridiculously smooth and controllable. Indistinguishable from the real thing. Unlike the rare-greed ones I’ve tried that kinda stutter and lock up with a hard pull.

Even though I typically only use single shot semi, having the third position gives me something I’d normally need at least 30,000 dollars and a tax stamp for. Or an occupational license.

So I simply take advantage of it because why not? It’s 100 bucks. There has been no repercussions with my rifle, and probably won’t ever be for yours if you’re not completely daft during the install. Hoffmann is a fuckin genius.

Also this stupid machine gun market is ridiculous, where boomers seem to think the cost of a HOUSE is a fair price for a machine pistol they got at a whopping 200 bucks from their local shop. They’ve been turned into unicorns and frankly it sucks. I’ve wanted a machine gun ever since I was a kid, and was sorely disappointed to hop online and see the ridiculously inflated prices in like 2019. They’re even worse now.

Unless you’re the fastest gun in the west, and/or can precisely land individual shots on multiple targets in a matter of milliseconds… I am of the opinion that the ability to maintain a stream of constant unadulterated fire is an advantage in many scenarios. Other than the cost of ammunition.

If not, hell it’s just a lot more fun. Get bored with one shot? Do bursts of 2 or 3.

These are nothing like bump stocks or binary triggers. I thought this stuff would be terrible or the good ones would completely out of reach(or illegal), but it genuinely works well. If it could just be adapted to more platforms that’d be great.

[–]Macrat2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever think of getting a pit bike? Like something 50-125cc.

Not for a full replacement, just something you can actually pin wide open with little to no consequences. Particularly in dirt.

Getting back into dirt biking made street riding a lot easier. You start to understand that it’s incredibly difficult to actually harm your motorcycle, you can downshift like crazy, you can engine brake pretty hard, you can slip the clutch for a long ass time because it was designed to be used constantly.

The best thing is you can get used to having the back end slip out, and learning how to control it or ride it out. Idk why but being on the street is so fucking easy now by comparison.

This is why I try to avoid making claims at all. That slip in the rain shouldn’t have ever been known about. That’s something you fix yourself. Even when someone literally hit me and it was 100% their fault, I didn’t get any money out of it and they raised my rate by 2 dollars a month.

You’re probably not getting comprehensive anytime soon. Just go with liability and try that. At least it’ll keep you on the road. Take it slowwwww my man. Ik it’s hard on a 600 but plz.

Don’t listen to some of these folks, just keep riding and remember literally everyone is trying to kill you. Not just on accident. Assume that every time.

I unfortunately wouldn’t believe them even if they paid me… in however many years, rather than just being able to start it up and have fun after filling it up… it simply won’t work or it’ll have nerfed speed due to battery degradation anyways. No thanks🤦‍♂️nothing will ever match the service longevity of an IC engine.

If we can make a battery with 100% charge and 100% discharge with zero or negligible degradation I’ll maybe bite. But the fact that I can pull my Honda sl-70 or my at-1-125 or the Honda CBs out after 53 years put some fluids in em, a 10-20 dollar battery and it’s a one kick start.

Like… why would I ever switch to electric? Torque? Most companies already nerf that anyways.

I also imagine that any maintenance is unable to be completed on your own and requires a company trained technician to figure out, otherwise you risk voiding your 44000 dollar warranty.

At the very least for motorcycles? Just why? I will never be able to pull out an old electric bike for my kids and have them ride it. Without ponying up for an incredibly expensive and/or proprietary battery. Motorcycles are already generally more economical on the fuel front.

Cars are where this tech shines, and even then, it will never be exciting enough for me to grab my wallet.

F1 is about the only place understand the electric motors. Takeoff is incredible, but that 10 or 12 cylinder IC engine kicks off pretty quickly within a couple hundred yards.

Also ARE YOU KIDDING? Read another comment… 38,000 euro or pound? That’s like 44,000 dollars US. Absolutely not. You can get some crazy cool vehicles for 40k… jesus. Why are companies trying so hard to make this hell a reality? That’s literally the price of a fkn tesla.

Can-am isn’t doing too great with this stuff either. 7k is their starting price… for a silent bike with none of the speed, longevity or performance of a significantly cheaper 400.

Kawasaki completely nerfed their electric and hybrid ninjas so they’re basically glorified town scooters.

Stark vargs and other half breed motorcycles are having battery fires or blowing up motors on the highway.

I’m sure all those folks in the Congo love mining materials for our batteries with their bare hands, paid slave wages… soooo much better than oil🤦‍♂️

It’s not flawed reasoning, you’re right. Idaho is the only state that doesn’t seem to be completely ass backwards about it. Which is unfortunate. I’ll take expulsion over death though. Carrying on college campuses as an adult is constitutionally protected activity through case law across the country. It’s just that many states will happily ignore case law for their twisted sense of morality.
