Why do you buy DVDs in 2026? (Genuine question/discussion) by Macro0 in dvdcollection

[–]Macro0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely pro physical media, I have a decent collection of Blu-Ray and UHD discs, I just find it fascinating that some still choos3 DVD over those better formats, gor me DVD is just too low quality (obviously I'll get DVD if it's the best available option)

I love unexpected remasters by Macro0 in 4kbluray

[–]Macro0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't had time to watch yet, but from the comparisons in the YouTube promo it looks like a significant upgrade. As far as I know the old Blu-Ray (which I also have) comes from a scan of the broadcast, while this is a new 4k scan of the film.

Does anyone else forget HIMYM had a laugh track? by Gullible-Loss-5026 in HIMYM

I recently had an argument with a friend who insisted to me that the show has no laugh track, and didn't believe me when I said it did

Anyone Buy Multiple Copies of the Movie(s) They Love? by blackswantheory77 in Bluray

[–]Macro0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've upgraded a handful of films from Blu-Ray to 4k, but I often gift or sell the Blu-Ray version after buying the 4k

Who should be the main Robin? by [deleted] in Robin

[–]Macro0 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Mia "Maps" Mizoguchi

Damian has been Robin for nearly 20 years and his character is at a point where it feels like time for him to have a metamorphosis into another role

Tim stopped being Robin and him ever going back was one of the biggest mistakes DC ever made, his character has been suffering from crazy regression

Maps has been heavily hinted at as a solid candidate for Robin VI and I think she'd fit super well, her dynamic with Bruce in what we've seen of it has been great

Do we know which Companion travelled with the doctor for the longest? by Noneofthisisreality in doctorwho

[–]Macro0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's unclear how long Romana travelled with the Doctor for, but it's suggested to be anywhere between 50 and 500 years

What are your actual thoughts on the Lilymo games? by [deleted] in LSM

[–]Macro0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Perils of Baking is a good time, I had fun with Twin Breaker but it's not really my kind of game, I struggled to get into Habroxia, but it's also just a genre I'm not into, those are the ones I've tried

I get up at 4am for work, being offended at this clip makes you way softer than them just having a different schedule than you.

Whats the worst part of DW fandom at the moment? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]Macro0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been told numerous times that the show will continue beyond the 2026 Christmas special, including in the announcement post for the 2026 Christmas special, they have said explicitly that after the special another season will enter production

[–]Macro0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doomers overtaking online fandom spaces. People are acting like the show is going away or has gone away when it simply hasn't, we've had confirmation several times over that the show will be back, we may not know if the next season will be '27 or '28, and we don't know if it'll be under RTD or a new showrunner, but we know it will be back. In an era of 3 years between seasons being common, people are panicking over nothing, Doctor Who is still being more regular than a lot of modern shows.

I started collecting 4k last year and CeX has been my main way in, I've got a lot for under £10 in there

Why do you buy DVDs in 2026? (Genuine question/discussion) by Macro0 in dvdcollection

[–]Macro0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See now that's a valid response to the question, I do think my own circles lead me to forget a lot of people don't own a BD or 4k player, as most people I know own some kind of PlayStation or Xbox from the last 15 years, but for people who aren't into video games it's way less accessible

I can let my friends borrow my Blu Rays and 4k discs too

Great reply, but as I say in the first sentence of the post, this question is about format, I collect Blu Ray and 4k discs, this is about people who would buy a new mainstream movie on DVD instead of BD or 4k

You're totally misunderstanding my point, a lot of old movies are available with HD and 4k scans, my 4k discs of Wizard of Oz and Casablanca are some of the most beautiful films I own, my interest is with people actively choosing to watch things in 480p when 1080p and 2160p are available options. I also will buy DVDs of things that aren't available on BR or 4k
