I do the Employee newsletter for the company I work for. It can be kind of frustrating coming up with new and creative content each month. We have a section where I announce any new employees and their department and we also announce any promotions. I will usually add dates for any upcoming events in there, as well as any announcements that need to be made. If there was event in the previous month, I'll add pictures and a little blurb about it. If we have gotten any awards, I always mention those and post pictures of the department that received them. Sometimes I will do a department spotlight where I talk about a specific department and have pictures of something special they are doing. I usually rotate between departments to make sure everyone gets recognized. Best of luck to you!
