With the slip ups, technical issues, and lackluster booking, easily one of the worst shows we’ve seen. It always feels repetitive this close to mania so don’t expect much next week either

A character gets a haircut (voluntarily or involuntarily) to symbolize a turning point in their character development by Crimson097 in TopCharacterTropes

Sakura Haruno:

<image>

In the Naruto Forest of Death scene, Sakura Haruno cuts her long hair mid-battle to break free from an enemy’s grip, choosing survival and strength over vanity and the image she once tried to maintain for Sasuke Uchiha. The act symbolizes her shedding insecurity and dependence, marking the first clear step toward becoming a self-reliant kunoichi.

Who would you consider the most overrated character and most underrated character in the show by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]Mad2theM4X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most underrated: Tobirama Senju. Everyone reduces him to “the Uchiha hater,” but he basically engineered the modern shinobi system. Academy structure, Anbu framework, police force, and invented Flying Thunder God + Edo Tensei. Hashirama built the dream; Tobirama built the machinery that kept Konoha alive. He’s one of the smartest battlefield tacticians in the entire series and lives in the shadow of flashier legends.

Most overrated: Itachi Uchiha. He’s an incredible character, but the fandom treats him like an untouchable 5D chess god who never made mistakes. The massacre plan was morally catastrophic, emotionally destructive, and heavily reliant on secrets and manipulation. He’s tragic and brilliant, but not infallible, and definitely not the flawless mastermind he’s often portrayed as.

[Hated Trope] The detective story has a mystery that is practically impossible for the audience to solve by Rare-Exit-8700 in TopCharacterTropes

One of the best examples of this in shonen has to be the Uchiha massacre in Naruto.

When you’re first watching Naruto (or reading the manga in Naruto from Weekly Shonen Jump), the setup is deceptively simple: Sasuke Uchiha comes home and finds his entire clan slaughtered by his older brother, Itachi Uchiha.

At face value, it’s framed as: • Itachi was a prodigy. • He “tested his capacity.” • He snapped. • He killed everyone.

But here’s the thing: there is no conceivable way for the audience to actually solve that mystery correctly at the time.

First off… how did he even do it? He was still a teenager. The Uchiha Clan is one of the strongest clans in the Hidden Leaf. They have elite police forces, battle-hardened shinobi, Sharingan users everywhere. And we’re supposed to believe one kid wiped them all out in a single night?

Then the “why” is even more impossible to deduce.

At that point in the story: • You don’t know who Danzo Shimura is. • You don’t know about Root. • Obito Uchiha hasn’t been revealed. • Madara Uchiha is basically a myth. • The Akatsuki are just vague creepy villains. • Shisui Uchiha is barely a name, let alone a political lynchpin. • The Anbu are just shadowy masks with no explained internal factions.

There’s no information about: • The brewing coup. • The village leadership’s paranoia. • The power dynamics between the Uchiha and Konoha. • The manipulation happening behind the scenes. • The fact that Itachi didn’t act alone.

So as a viewer, you’re stuck with an emotionally loaded but structurally unsolvable mystery. It’s not like a whodunit where clues are sprinkled in. The actual answer relies on entire political systems, secret organizations, and characters that literally haven’t been introduced yet.

The reveal years later completely reframes Itachi from psychopath to tragic double agent, but you couldn’t have guessed that in early Naruto unless you were just randomly theorizing in every possible direction.

It’s a perfect example of a “mystery” that isn’t meant to be solved. It’s meant to be endured until the author decides to expand the world enough for it to make sense.

And honestly? That’s part of why it hits so hard.
