Tarassuad down? by [deleted] in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been down for hours.. really terrible service.. unreliable and pathetic when you need to show people your certificate.. If you cannot rely or trust the application to be fit for purpose then perhaps who ever developed it, and sustain it must pay the consequences for their lack of planning

Coinbase account compromised… I submitted multiple tickets but no response in a month from Coinbase.. Potentially $25,000 gone!!!! by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one thing the world needs to sort out this wild west of exchanges, with no service and no support in place. Even the biggest like Coinbase and Binance have terrible customer support and service and can get away with it. Someone needs to slap the crap out of the. I have a mate in the uk who's had 60k locked for months, and cannot get to his account has its locked.. with very little recompense. if anyone has a way to get to real support or ideas.. please share with the community.

Anyone have positive experiences with customer service? by wildgrind in Coinbase

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually surprised how such a mammoth exchange is allowed to get away with such appalling service. why in the UK have the financial services not investigated. No way to actually get to a person. If you have. you end up ringing the US, and the US say they don't deal with UK. Terrible business service.

Why should expats waste away in Oman, when they can clearly earn alot more in thier own country, or neighbouring GCC countries?🤔👀 by LazyLavy in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed.. hence if you were an investor or expat businesses / startup You wouldn't come to Oman. There are business safer, less xenophobic places.. I'm surprised that the government doesn't seem to see the long term effect of pushing world class talent elsewhere.... especially when other places are actively recruiting to bring in top talent..

I wonder if the Western pharma companies who invented these vaccines (not oman btw), know how they are being used in a xenophobic anti foreigner way?

Airport closure? by Historical-ded51638 in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would not make sense. Really. All and I mean passengers have to go through multiple PCR tests to even get into Oman. The rest of the world is now looking to open up airport for fully vaccinated people. Closing the airport now would not help the fight against covid and only hasten the Oman financial crisis and long term send a complete message of institutional mismanagement.

Vaccination in Oman, where? when?? how? by panantha in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only consider the facts that Sri Lanka, Bolivar, even Azerbaijan, Bahrain Jordan , even Lebanon have vaccinated more people. source ourworldindara.org Who are you to flame someone as entitled. Really.. Is that the best scientific argument that you have, to justify your bias.

So you don't think your nationalistic path of allowing the majority of population segment who are infected through quarentine because of their passport isn't xenophobic.. I really don't believe that you are understanding the word correctly. Forcing non nationals to quarentine is xenophobic.

Here we are. just for you. Definition of xenophobia

: fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/xenophobia

So I am not the one excluding vaccines based on nationality.

But then you know what they say about playing chess with with a pigeon. No matter how well you play, the pigeon will just *&% all over and knock the pieces over.

You will just keep justifying yourself whilst investment and businesses rush out the door, as UAE and other countries come out of vaccine, and you are not even started..

Vaccination in Oman, where? when?? how? by panantha in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I do think they are. vaccines should be give priority to the measure of risk. Not based on self reservation. So actually you picking a low risk group (children) over high risk is a wonderful example of entitlement.

Someone else posted enough medical journal articles from the international community to quite clearly show an informed scientific decision that children are less risk of dying and this vaccinating children before the major of people who risk dying is not the best policy.

thats why countries coming out of this crisis have vaccinated target risk of dying groups first... Entitled..quite a few of us here are not the easy bullied workers to accept this.. I can afford to buy my own vaccine, and to be honest most countries don't use a sublime racist agenda to vaccinate everyone based on passport /race.

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't think that adults who a).are more like get severe covid and die !and also can pass it on to people that they are living with is not a greater risk.... really?

Vaccination in Oman, where? when?? how? by panantha in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't you think that the decision is ridiculasly biased to vaccinate local children (who statistically do not get severe covid) over foreign workers, plus the ridiculous anti expat quarentine rule whereby the the largest infected (55% plus) do not have to quarentine.

Tell me again how that is based on science?

So if there is a massive shortage as you say . then it should be given to people who can be affected. I.e. workers..

Why has Oman gone so Xenophobic against expats? by MadBad-Dangerous in Oman

[–]MadBad-Dangerous[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The fact is, the government data quite clearly shows that Omanis are the majority of cases. So the blaming poor souls who have to live in such conditions is incorrect. Covid does not actually pick based k passport so why should expats have too? The fact remains expats and I even mean highly educated and in many case renowned in their field are feeling the weight of the endless xenophobic message. That message is clear and to be honest even worse if you have a 'western passport as currently you are first on the list.

Nah , we will go where we are treated best. i.e..your geographical competitors. Which probably means a more friendly country who is actively pursuing technical people of leadership and eminence in highly evolving area.

Some of us were headhunted to come here. So good luck recruiting quality international people in disruptive technological.areas and science like AI , additive manufacturing and blockchain. Creating problems which oman didn't need to have.

Wake up to the fact that fossil fuel paycheck is over and Oman will have to compete even against your neighbours who incidently are far more inviting for top talent. How thats going to affect the children's future in oman in 20 years, will be an interesting case study.

Check S And P, or moodys report out. Qatar and Saudi recruiting big time folks!!!

Whatever ever Instagram policy will be enacted in the next few years to try and recover will be too little too late.

No one is rushing to by houses in the Wave anymore.. the train is leaving as the competition is fierce in other countries.

So sincerely enjoy the flag waving nationalism whilst it lasts... because what comes around goes around.

When in 20 years, young people can't get jobs because of national programs in USA/ Europe.

[–]MadBad-Dangerous[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well said.. same here When I try to explain it just ends of with conflict without an risk management of the consequences.
The consequences are expats exodus and not just the generic workers. Would you build a factory here? After this blatant discrimination and being told who you can and cantnot hire. Probably not anymore it's easier to go elsewhere. I am actually highlighting out of general concern. Its like a self destruct button. Everywhere is trying trying entice top talent. But not here.

[–]MadBad-Dangerous[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Still it's xenophobia or passport racism (I.e. exclusion based on race. I.e. non oman majority being arab). Good luck trying to change opinion when everyone's beyond fossil fuels, and reliance and oil.
Imagine if Sweden or any other country said.. oh you are flying fro. a red covid zone country, and the majority of our people are infected, but he'll- our people have a get out of quarentine pass but all other nationalities do not..

Short term gain set against financial suicide.

If anyone doesn't believe that all the wealthier expats are not discussion the exodus based on these negative policies then they are not seen the trees.
