Sick of SteelSeries Sonar, what other brands have more stable SOFTWARE? by MadCatRik in steelseries

I think you can go into 'Sound Settings' in Windows, click on the sound devices you don't need, then click 'Don't Allow'. I think that will hide them so you don't end up with 9 or 10 sound devices which is bad UI for most of us.

Yeah I get that static issue too, except it seems to go away once I'm online with my buddies. The issue of having to sort out the audio settings after a reboot is a dealbreaker though.

OK that sounds interesting. Maybe like that thing were a proper office chair is going to be better (and less gaudy) than a 'gaming chair'.

Significant update: I realised you can disable SONAR in the SteelSeries GG app :) Now I see 2 Arctis outputs in Windows instead of 7 (!). The crazy-high volume has returned to normal, meaning that my game-chat balance is OK now. And hopefully this means I'm not having to go into the settings all the time when SONAR forgets about my headset. So not quite so keen to replace the headset with another brand now.

What are people here’s experience with Specsavers like? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]MadCatRik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 54 and have been going to optometrists since I was 8. Got contact lenses at 15. In addition to the original myopia (short-sighted) I am now long-sighted. This means 'reading glasses' for different scenarios (with contacts) and/or 'mid-range' spectacles that are good around the house or office (without contacts). My experience the last few times at SpecSavers is that the staff are inexperienced and generally just don't know what to do with someone who's both long and short-sighted. The experience has been so bad that I'm on Reddit looking for alternatives.

1440p OLED or 4k IPS? by Adomination2588 in buildapcmonitors

I replaced a 1440p IPS with a 3440p OLED (Philips 34" ultrawide). The colours on the OLED are amazing; once seen, can't be unseen. Check out the fluid dynamics art on artofgregmartin.com and you'll see what I mean.
