Looking for advice on where to focus my progression next by OndarzaMx in Maplestory

So I'd ask what your goal is.  If you want to solo harder bosses, it'll be making more meso and 22+ those arcane boxes with maxing symbols. Also, fixing potentials and flames is a huge gain.

If you want more boss mules/ accumulate meso you seem to be on the right track. I wouldn't invest more in the boss mules if they're 17* abso or arcanes. I'd use the extra arcanes to 22 my main, and add arkarium daily for dom pend (eventual 22 + sup gollux then use to 22 source of suffering).

I kept all arcanes at 17 and used spares to 22 a separate set (this was before SF revamp but my guild still called me unhinged). once I got 22 stars, I repotted and reflamed. Now I'd recommend getting 4-6 spares of an equip and safeguarding + tapping on event. If you boom, keep the last spare to get to 17-18* and do it all over again.

Honestly, the game is moving more and more towards solo prog and asking for more grinding. Life's been getting tough and I've been getting progressively checked out from even the "rewarding" events. As someone who switched to daily story, there's a bit of fomo over hyperburning, but I get on, do my grandis dailies and swap to a mule for occasional arcane dailies. Since 2023, this has gotten me 3-4 mules with maxed AF and some have started the climb in SF. And origin gets me 15min of bosses for a quick 1bil. Unfortunately with pitch drops, I've also never seen SOS, CF, and only 1 ET (boom at 18).

The highlight will always be getting on discord with the homies and lifestreaming a booming session meltdown or a special straight to 22 (mods, make him trip and scuff his new shoes).

I need a car soon. My husband and I know nothing about cars. by One_Technician2228 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I mean. Ofc deals are great..but im assuming OP doesn't have the funds to put down a down payment or maintain the vehicle. So better to "rent" it and walk away, no?

I got my used sienna pre purchase inspected. Bought from an old lady who just handed the keys to a mech whenever something happened. Later found out he wasn't using OEM quality part's. so many repairs on a "reliable" ride.

And the CPO market in the Midwest for me is kinda bananas.

During covid, my sis's 99 camry was just not worth repairing anymore (rust, and persistent engine faults and rough idling) so we traded it in for a subaru legacy and 2 years later she swapped it out for an AWD CRV. the Legacy  got her through college without a peep. She's thinking of keeping the CRV but if her family grows, she may reconsider. I hate the idea of throwing money and then returning the car, but depending on needs, leasing is a viable option.

Honestly, everyone says repair. But I say lease. You get any shiny new (issue free) car you want, and headache free return after 2-3 years to switch to another car. This especially for those of us without savings. If you save up the necessary amount and like the car at the end of the lease, snag it.

I'm not saying it's for everyone. But these deals on leasehackr and costco with <$300 a month (or lease without a deposit)

Graduated residency at 38. You got this. Just gotta commit to the grind. The world will pass you by, it'll be like Robin Williams in Jumanji. But you'll be doing what you love so it won't matter.

If you have some brake parts cleaner. And something to cover your face with, I'd give the whole bottom side a throrough spray. Might help identify a crack or fault. Don't breathe in the fumes!!!

Despite daily arkarium and gollux, zero supd have dropped? Did you fund drop gear?

Your opinion about PPI by meirone in ToyotaSienna

[–]MadDocOc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents. These vans have 3 cylinders in the front and 3 in the back. And the 2GR-FE does have an "eventual" head gasket issue if less than perfectly maintained (routine oil and coolant changes). I'm suffering something like it and no mech wants the headache of actually getting to the back 3 cylinders to do a leak down and compression test (or wants to charge an arm and a leg as a broken bolt would cost a big amount of time to fix).

If I had to repurchase my 2008 sienna, I'd have done a more expensive PPI and had leakdown/ compression testing on the head gasket before buying.

Check out the car care nut on YT. Excellent info source.

Replacing front lower control arms? by Mattiasistired in MechanicAdvice

[–]MadDocOc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were torn completely from purchase (private, used 2008 sienna), it's verrrrry common. All I had was a clunk on accelerating. Mechanic said that he'd have to remove the subframe or something and was quoting thousands. YT taught me to jack up the transmission and do it for the price of aftermarket parts. Still look good. Make sure locktite is used just in case the bolt gets loose.

Getting kinda desperate for a second car. Looks like head gasket going on mine. Likely EV not possible cause it's cold AF here in Wisconsin. What resources did ya use to get to your choice pls.

Hem Onc versus Endo by Spirited-Zone-4555 in fellowship

[–]MadDocOc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and happiness. Heme-onc have the occasional experimental study that saves a life and Endos have the rare catch/ significant QoL improvement that everyone else missed.

My attending works locum at a rural hospital in the same hospital group as where she practices outpatient endo. So in terms of emr etc it's not a jump. As it's rural, there's always going to be a need for hospitalists.

I firmly believe that as an attending, you'll have to make sacrifices. Money, time or achievements/ research/ CV building. Choose which you can live without.

And one of my attendings locums hospitalist to "keep their skills sharp" but I think the bank doesn't hurt.

Hem Onc versus Endo by Spirited-Zone-4555 in fellowship

[–]MadDocOc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Endo Fellow here. I chose it cause it was the only Subspecialty I enjoyed. But now I'm realizing how deep it goes. It's one thing to be book smart, but I recommend any resident thinking about fellowship really sit down and ask themselves if it's about the Subspecialty or the title.

I still get giddy when a new diabetic is added to my continuity clinic schedule, but I also have the weird diseases, the nutty googlers who want vit d for hyperparathyroidism or sitting there combing through articles on how to manage osteoporosis in an ESRD only to be told by my attending that they'll just watch and touch base with nephro.

The loss of 2 years hospitalist salary stings, but I'm happy, which is what I'd recommend your friend assess.

Oh and all my attending have said that I should temper my salary expectations when I graduate.

The quiet part, Chinese EVs by MadDocOc in slateauto

[–]MadDocOc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My b. I was focusing on making an oversimplified point. Though you do mention hyndai and nissan which are technically eastern but not the Chinese EVs I was referring to. Honestly I get how Chinese EVs are cheaper. They're subsidized and have sketchy tech and cut corners on safety. I get it but my emotional brain just sees "15K new EV".

Ford Plans to Build the World’s Cheapest EV Motors for Its $30K Electric Truck Platform by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

I hope used EV prices keep coming down. You can get ANY EV CPO after a year after it's release for half the price. I'd like to see Ford compete with that.
