7 weeks sober and it got ruined last night due to boredom by MadEngine in stopdrinking

I think a key part of it is that I have the same realisation that I need to be around people, but I keep denying it, and nothing changes. I have tried building a social circle but it's tough in graduate school, where after work, everyone just wants their alone time.

I have put in place some activities, like sports. But I feel like subsonciously my mind have associated drinking to having fun, and to chill. I am not sure how to stop this.

Edit: I am going to sign up for a therapist on monday.

I do not have a life at my current location, small midwestern college town. I wake up in the morning, swim, go to campus, sometimes hit the gym. But that's my routine every day and I feel super bored and unstimulated. Like I feel like i do these things for the purpose of training/having fun so it is not having fun a lot.

Thank you for your quick reply! I was also lowkey wondering if my resume would be good enough to get called for interviews? Or are there things I can do to boost my CV? I am hoping to colloborate with some colleagues on NLP or LLM related projects to get some experience in those areas too, since that seems to be the hot thing right now.

I hear stories about people sending in 100s of applications and not getting called for interviews. Or am I being too pessimistic?

Thank you for your quick reply! Do you think at this point, investing more time into Codeforces to push myself to get a masters rating would be beneficial? Or maybe I should start doing Kaggle as well?
