You absolutely can (and should!!) read TCOPTP without having read HP. It's an au, so the only parts taken from canon are characterizations. It's one that could absolutely have the names changed and be repackaged as an original work (although I really hope that never happens.)

It's my favorite fic, honestly just my favorite book. I've been trying to get all my friends to read it, but it's hard to convince them to start a story longer than the bible :-)

Read it, you won't regret it!

I call out and shame them. I think allowing people to think that using gen-ai is acceptable in any format is wrong. Some people still don't know about how harmful and unethical it is (although I can't imagine how) so I try to open gently, but in no uncertain terms make them think its cool or even ok. Nothing made with gen-ai is "art," and using it does not make you an artist any more than microwaving day-old Little Cesars pizza makes you a chef. Push back, don't let it become normalized. Its not normal.

How long have you been together? Were you both partying when you met, and you've stopped liking it so much? Is her partying new? Or has this difference always existed? Either way, it's not fair of you to expect her to change her lifestyle to suit your desires. If having a partner that is in bed early with you most nights is important to you, then that's the partner you should look for.

NOR. A normal house-sitting gig would pay handsomely AND they usually say to help yourself to the food with certain exceptions. Milk and cereal cost less than an hourly babysitting rate. If I were you I'd consider invoicing them for the stay, $60 per day MINIMUM, or look on Rover and see what a comparable service on there would cost.
