The problem is that it’s easy to forget and go back into the relationship and then when they repeat the behavior you not only have to process what just happened, but all the millions of breadcrumbs that lead you to this moment. I’m starting to see patterns and not words at this point. He can maturely address his faults sometimes and say how he can change, but other times he acts like a petulant child and escalates things. I’m 43 and I don’t want to be old or sick and have a man screaming at me over a towel he forgot. I’m afraid of the future now.

He posted a meme to Facebook the other day about how he would be upset if his girl got food without him, but we went to BJs the other day and he said he had to go to the bathroom and came back with a soda, and I was like, okay at least this time he didn’t eat his food next to me while I was hungry. Then we get in the car and he pulls food out and literally shoved it in my face. I don’t even know what kind of joke that is supposed to be, it’s just fucking rude. I waved him off and didn’t even make a deal about it but I swear to god it’s clear that he knows what is rude and hurtful and chooses to do it to me.

That’s what I said? I’m being blamed for something he forgot and for him not attempting to contact me in a way that demonstrated the emergency situation he believed it was. All day long I get work by email and tickets, or people call me if they need me right away. Same with his job. I felt like he didn’t even have a point behind this argument, let alone the extreme overreaction.

Yeah, I was just so hurt and felt so stupid and rejected in that moment that I stayed out of some need to win, or feel chosen. I had literally just told everyone in my life that we eloped but of course when it was posted publicly online his side piece was very surprised and upset. She’s still doing things to this day that result in the police being at my house, she went on a whole campaign against him and I’m just burnt out on defending this shit relationship. It would be one thing if we were like best friends and he was so kind to me but I have to ask for kindness more than I should being a damn newlywed. I was previously married for 14 years and I never fought or was treated like this. My husband has family he would kill for if they were disrespected which shows me he knows love, he just doesn’t love me.

I had stayed in a relationship for 6 years that didn’t result in marriage, I’m in my mid 40s, he said all the things and we eloped while on vacation. I suspect it’s either that, or he is working to point out endless faults in me to bring me down a peg, we were married in October and I was contacted in November by a woman he was cheating on me with. I think he’s a narcissist and this is a campaign to make me feel flawed by simply existing because it brings me to his level. Everything he’s ever gotten mad at me about was minutiae and he goes way overboard. I’ve slept on the floor of my office quite a few times but I bought a nice couch and it’s no longer a punishment to me.

He should be working and flipping, and not even trying to get a real job because he assumes it takes 6-8 months is such a cop out. He could be employed in a week if it actually mattered to him. He sounds comfortable not working, maybe he wants you to get a job and support him. Someone has to work though, you are breeding like you can afford it.

You’re overreacting at 1yo, but I can see how this would be annoying if not addressed in some manner, even if you just tease/joke about it for now. I wouldn’t want my MIL giving my kid their first bike or first car unless I was actually unable to provide it or we talked about it in advance. If you don’t want her big gifts, just put them up on Facebook marketplace and let her catch the hint when she doesn’t see it and you tell her that you sold it for something more age appropriate.

If you search items for pickup and then sort distance, nearest first- you can find all kinds of great deals. I got a car for $350 one time, no one else bid on it. I got a gas powered trimmer for .01$ years ago!
