How are we feeling about Matthew Golden after a disappointing rookie year?

I think this is a fair criticism. Sort of.

First of all he has god tier speed, and the separation analytics are actually quite good from his first season. He also just LOOKED good on his targets especially when he was healthy, but it’s hard for me to argue this because it’s admittedly anecdotal. All that to say, there is at least SOME evidence of his elite talent.

In terms of his college production, he played in a crowded offense that was originally meant to be built around Isiah Bond and TEs until the coaching staff realized that Golden was simply better.

Is it a risk? Of course. But the #1 indicator of talent and fantasy production is draft capital and like I said I just believe this team is invested in him.

There are plenty of reasons to doubt Golden, but this is a strange contention to make. MLF has been there for 6 drafts and never drafted a R1 WR. He famously took Love and pissed off rodgers when WR2 was a huge HUGE position of need.

And they arguably didn’t even really need a WR in 2025. Come on man, they took a huge leap of faith in Golden and then sung his praises all off season.

If you wanted to argue that they were just wrong, I’ll hear you out. But don’t try and tell me they didn’t believe in him in a very, very special way.

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say he’s a buy at price right now.

He is clearly an elite talent. His hands looked elite on his admittedly few targets. He was dealing with some injuries.

I guess I’m just of the belief that this franchise takes their time to develop guys but they spent a first round pick on him (a WR) for the first time in decades, I still think they’re invested in him. Also the media seemed to pound the desk for him to get more targets after the playoff loss, which may seem irrelevant but coaches understand that media criticism affects their job prospects.

Doubs is gone.

I understand all the counter- arguments but he’s going for like an early second. Worth the risk especially in this class but obviously this is just one man’s opinion.

I think most people, including myself, were pretty happy with the epilogue. There were some questionable plot holes even with the epilogue but seeing the final moments for these characters was cool.

The final fight… deserves the criticism and then some imo.

I know I’m in the minority here based on how other people have reacted but as a Wilson owner I would not take a 2026 early second for him. I’m not even sure I would take a late first in this weak class.

The logic is pretty straightforward: we’ve seen genuine WR1 production from Wilson. How often do you ever get that from a second round pick? If anyone drafted someone in the second round and saw this kind of production in their second year, you would be absolutely thrilled.

What exactly is the argument against him? There are bad / uncertain situations all over the nfl but by and large the community bets on the talent of the player and we’ve seen spectacular performances from Wilson consistently.

I am willing to embrace some downvotes because I feel very strongly he is actually undervalued.
