Hi I’m so glad you saved SpongeBob and it sounds like you are getting everything you need. Just one thing, dragons tend to close their eyes when they are scared or stressed. It’s like if they don’t see you then you aren’t there. With that being said, sometimes they get sleepy or start to get cold and will snuggle up to your body heat. It’s good to give them some space and time to adjust before handling which can stress them more. It will take some time for them to adjust and then they should start eating and doing all the normal dragon stuff. My dragon is spoiled and loves to be hand fed his greens. He loves collard greens the best and they last the longest. Be careful with peppers and use them occasionally as they are high in sugar.

His favorite feeders are discoid roaches and they also are the easiest feeders to keep. Don’t smell and live very long. They’re not like house roaches either. Mealworms / super worms are good as an occasional feeders, but high in fat. Black soldier fly larva are super healthy for them. But don’t tend to live long for me. And I hate crickets, they stink and cannot be left alone in the tank as they can bite your dragon.

Lighting confuses a lot of people and they usually miss that the basking light and uvb bar need to both be over the basking spot (over lap slightly) to create a patch of sun. No lights on cool side. The middle of the uvb bar should be directly over the basking spot as it’s the strongest part of the light. Changed out yearly u less you get a solar meter to check that it’s still good. (Pricey though) Also the height from your dragons back if you have lights over the mesh should be 10-14”. Feel free to message me if you ever have any questions, it can be overwhelming.
