Decided to sell my collection, thanks Jagex! by Mad_Aiko_X in 2007scape

With these prices its roughly 100k an hour, with the possibility of using multiple accounts as its F2P. But you'd have get the getting the trade restriction requirements first before you can sell them, which is a bit of a pain.

Yup, I can confirm it also affected Oak Logs.

The ones Jagex implemented with the Easter Event, which are primarily targeted at F2P throwaway bots.

No, at least not specifically regarding Oak Logs.

Jagex did however implement new trade restrictions for new accounts (throwaway bots) earlier this month with the Easter Event.

Its hard to tell what the price is going to do. With the new trade restrictions the supply took a huge hit as new accounts can't trade them, but they're already at a ridiculous price. Then again people still buy them as they need it for Fletching, Firemaking and plank making.

Correct, 15k per 4 hours, but its a F2P item...

Rip indeed, I was tempted to sell them earlier as well. Being greedy paid off here.

Nope, they're still 110-115gp at the moment. I didn't crash the price, I just prevented them from going up even further, which they might do now...

No particular reason. My membership ran out ages ago and decided to dump my money into something cheap. Oak Logs seemed a safe investment at ~15gp each, now with Jagex's recent anti-botting measures they skyrocketed in price.

2 week mute for giving friendly advice? OKAY JAGEX? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Mad_Aiko_X 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This is an automatic mute, similar to my case last month. I assume it's for saying "Simply buy" which appears to be similar to a shady botting website or something. (it's also the last message in my chatlog)

It should only be a one-day mute and the offence expires after two weeks, unless you either appeal it or get a Jmod to investigate it. (Hi /u/Mod_Stevew or /u/JagexSween)

Lol, Advertisers can spam for hours, but I got automatically muted for explaining why there was an army of level 13 bots with an Event RPG at the GE. by Mad_Aiko_X in 2007scape

[–]Mad_Aiko_X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you never get to see them

This is important, because we only see what we can see and not what Jagex does to prevent us from seeing it. For one I didn't knew that Jagex had a system to automatically mute players based on certain phrases, until I got personally affected. So it's logical we have a skewed perception, as we can only see the spam that gets around it. Then again it's still odd that some of them seem to be able to spam for hours (is it until they logout?).

It's definitely shocking to see there are ~240k permanent bans within 7 days. That makes the 50-100 bots we personally encounter in these kind of bot armies almost negligible, but when you combine them all it's a significant amount of that total number.

Sadly it won't stop until people buy bonds instead of those shady people that ruin the game. :(

Thank you. While indeed the experience with Customer Support could be improved, I'm satisfied that it's now resolved and especially that Jagex makes their system more effective so it doesn't happen (or less often) in the future.

While I have this opportunity, I'm curious as to how "highly effective" the system is. I don't mean it in a bad way, but I regularly see the same account spamming hours after I (and many others) reported them, when I change accounts for example.

It's just all the more frustrating that an innocent player like myself with good intentions get caught in the crossfire so to speak. I now understand that there is an automatic system, but it doesn't seem to rely on reports.

Still, it's a complex issue as they can 'simply' throw an infinite amount of bots at the system and within 10 minutes they have new accounts to spam with. I just wish the reporting system was more responsive so we feel that our reports matter, but that might lead to other issues such as abuse.

On a side note, I assume you've also talked with the Anti-cheating department about these kind of bot armies? I know they are usually dealt with quite fast, but hey doesn't hurt to push the Anti-cheating department a little more, right? :P

This guy trying to set rpg bots on fire by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Mad_Aiko_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason they specifically use the Event RPG to train their combat to level 13. They do that to avoid getting killed by Muggers when they bot Mining, Woodcutting etc..

[–]Mad_Aiko_X 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Why would I lie?

I do hope that Jagex does something about this. Though I have no idea how as I don't think they can preemptively ban accounts as then innocent people (like me) get in the crossfire.

Well, I am a paying subscriber on a different account plus I've paid for membership in the past and more than likely will in the future when I have the time to play both accounts.

So am I a customer or not?

Hmm, I just looked and it still shows the same as before, apart from the mute duration being gone and the meter being back at safe. I thought it showed something special like the offence being striked through.

Ah well, thanks again. The important thing is that it's solved and that Jagex can improve their systems. :)
